Dear Rag. I will always cherish this moment. I still can't believe you could see good enough to drive the car wearing the mascot uni. Miss the good times. Best, Santa.

An apt photo. The mascot is clearly a metaphor for the university as a whole. Santa is obviously picking his pocket with his unseen hand while whispering sweet promises in his ear. All the while, he has carefully arranged his getaway car (notice the keys in his hand) to speed off and out of town before his con becomes apparent to the unsuspecting bearcat. The only thing that would make it more perfect is if the license plate was B12 AAU.

I've said this before and I will say it again: the best fit for UC, in a perfect world, is the ACC. Geography, similar schools, some history with old foes and the slight lean towards basketball overall. Maybe that conference will be forward thinking soon and pick up UC and UCF, maybe UConn but they're more likely to go independent in FB and go back to the Big East. Houston, Memphis and USF can go to the B12.

ROFLMAO - UC? Did Bob Goin return?

Way too many people still around that believed in Santa, and the "if we build it, they will come" strategy. Many of you still believe that - and if we remain friendly and patient the pretty girl might just ask us to dance. How's that been working?

Let me answer that while you patiently wait....
All B10 schools will receive in excess of $50M for 2018. And that is expected to increase each year for the term of the contract. Yep, Purdue, Illinois, Northwestern, Minnesota, Indiana - all get it. In just 4 more years they will each clear more than $200M. To put that in perspective, not theory, not maybe, but in real dollars - it would take UC 100 years to create that much revenue. 100 years - even doss won't live that long. This monetary chasm will forever change competitive balance - and I'm sure that we will all feel the reality of that very soon.

Yeah, I burned up my Oh No! signed bow tie recently. What, I can't be pissed off after we got screwed by ESPN and the Big 10 Not Really 12 Conference? Investing in our facilities was necessary regardless of our entry into a P5. Everyone else is doing it and we need to keep up with recruiting, fan/student interest, attracting coaches, facilities maintenance, not falling behind other programs, etc. Again, lessons learned. DON'T TRUST ESPN as far as you can throw them.

Dear Rag. Miss your support up here in Canada. If you're ever in the neighborhood please look me up. Best, Santa.

1992, those pictures would scare any child on Christmas day. Do you think he slides down the chimney with lube in his bag? Just think of the horrors that he will be handing out on Boxing Day. Cue Thompson Twins "Lies" - the Asian riff seems on target

With the exception of UConn, this is probably best case scenario for everybody. I'm not sure FSU and Miami want UCF in the ACC though, unless one or both leave. B12 might be interested in the Florida recruiting market though. I think I just contradicted my first sentence with the last two. Regardless, this is the best scenario for UC.

I know neither Florida State NOR Miami want UCF in the ACC.

For that matter, the Florida "Big Three"--Florida State, Miami, and Florida--don't want either UCF nor USF in a "Power" conference. Not that they have much say about what the B12 does or does not do, but they remember the brief window when USF was in the Big East and looked to make the Florida market "Four" instead of Three. Trust me that those Three schools do not want to share the market with an upstart. As long as they can hold the "Power" chip over the heads of UCF/USF recruits, they are happy...lose that chip and suddenly they (UF, FSU, UM) have competition. But it's a similar position as to what Ohio State, Kentucky, and even Louisville have towards UC. OSU doesn't want to do anything that would give UC even a fighting chance with recruits or $$$. Not that they could "stop" the ACC or B12 from adding us, but they will not lift a finger to help us either. (And if they have any clout, they will use it to keep us from making progress.)

I agree the ACC would be a great fit for the reason stated, I think we have little to no chance of getting in that conference other than as backfill. They are not expandeding until they get a full commitment from Notre Dame, and that will likely never happen. Moreover, the conference already receives less revenue per team than the other 4 P5 conferences per team, they aren’t going to add more to the conference unless a Texas or Penn Star came calling.

Let's hope UConn goes to the BE, as likely it means FB goes Indy and goes further downhill as it eliminates them as a backfill in ACC.

Even if that doesn't happen, I don't think they're as attractive a backfill candidate as UC. Clemson and FSU would lobby for a quality football addition and would likely see much greater upside for Bearcat football and the added visibility for the ACC in recruit rich Ohio.
