Best Mexican Food in SA?
Okay. It looks like UNT will be heading to UTSA for our first meeting. I love San Antonio. I've been to some great places to eat down there. In your opinion, where is the best place to get Mexican food in San Antonio?

It's a chain that has locations in many cities but I really like Chuy's for Tex-Mex.

La Paloma Blanca and Betos off Broadway just inside Loop 410 are good. Betos makes great empanadas.

Just south of downtown El Mirador and Rosario's are really good.

Mi Tierra has a great atmosphere and Mexican bakery. It's open 24/7/365. It's a little east and south of downtown off Market Square. It's a touristy type place that might be worth going to.

La Fogata off Vance Jackson just inside Loop 410 is good.

I don't know of any good places actually on the Riverwalk. I didn't like any of the ones I've tried.

Your question might start a horrible argument with most people saying the places I listed above suck. There are lots of differing opinions about this particular subject in San Antonio. = )

El mirador is my favorite for real Mexican food. Taco Haven probably is the best tex mex. Los Barrios is always a great choice too.

I agree with jarmzet for the most part. There are tons of great Mexican restaurants here. Probably easier to tell you the places to avoid:

Alamo Cafe (aka Anglo cafe) - this place is awful, but has been around for 30+ years.
Pappasito's - flat terrible.
Anywhere on the riverwalk, especially casa Rio.

My favorite: Henry's Puffy Tacos: http://www.henryspuffytacos.com/

Downtown: La Margarita: http://www.lamargarita.com/

The ones jarmzet mentioned above are good too.
