RE: College basketball is back
I'm watching UMASS-Harvard right now simply because Raftery is calling the game.

I can't believe McD, Raff and Bilas aren't doing the Duke game tonight. Or are they doing that game also?

New Mexico is on next. Not looking forward to the return trip to The Pit.

I expected them to get beat handily, Gonzaga has a lot of talent back and WVU is starting 3 new guys. Watched the first half and WVU looked lost. They'll be fine in the Big XII.

Tonight should be a great night of basketball. 04-cheers

I don't think I ever expect a Huggins coached team to get beat handily. That was embarrassing. They obviously aren't that bad, but it just looks like an NIT roster. They could barely score last year and that was with Jones and Bryant. Losing Truck might be addiction by subtraction though.

Huge comeback by the Lobos last night. They were down by as many as 16 and they fought back for an 86-81 win over Davidson. They are relentless at attacking the basket with their guards and we'll need to keep them off of the FT line. They were 38-44 (86.4%).

Detroit looks good right now. Obekpa blocked a few shots, but he looked lost offensively. Nyarsuk will probably have a bigger impact this year.

Huggins just needs to avoid Gonzaga, the last two games they've played have been against the Zags and gotten blown off the court in each.

I don't know. The last couple of years have really left me scratching my head as to the roster construction in Morgantown.

Don't forget the meltdown in the 2003 NCAA tournament game.

Is anyone buying the Final 4 hype for Gonzaga? They have a good team, but I think they are missing a go-to scorer to make that type of run. Elias Harris is good, not great. Plus, I have a hard time trusting them in the tournament. In their last 11 appearances they have only made it to the second week twice.

Obekpa looks like a solid frosh. Would have liked to get him.

I have trouble rooting for St John's even though they are Big East brethren. Since Lavin took over they just ooze slimy and shady.

Chris Obekpa has tied a St Johns record with 7 blocks in his first college game. Still disappointed we missed out on that kid. Seems like he could be a heck of a force defensively.

That is true, coincidental that Gonzaga ended WVU's season last year with a beat down and they started WVU's season with another beat down. I don't know how good Gonzaga can be, but if they have a very good regular season you know they'll get the benefit of the doubt and probably be over seeded, so you never know, maybe a second week run isn't out of the question.

If I read right, they could see them again in a tournament later this month. At this point in the season, mid-majors are usually going to have the upper hand because they're more likely to have experienced rosters. The exception would obviously be the top-tier teams that just reload talent that leaves for the NBA.

St. John's nearly screwed up BIG TIME!

I am. They're got great balance, a wealth of experience and a hell of a head coach.

I think XU's demise has been greatly exaggerated. They still have a solid talent level and should be a good team. A10 coaches picking them 9th is wishful thinking.

Butler went to the CBI last season. So I don't know if they decent this year or not?
