I know we don't want to discuss this but I read an article on WMU's vacancy and there were a few candidates that had backgrounds back to NIU. I know we should be thankful but I just thought it was interesting. I felt that one of them could be a good fit here if DD moves on. http://www.mlive.com/broncos/index.ssf/2...ial_w.html

If/when we need to replace DD I like the idea of another defensive-minded coach such as a Narduzzi and bring in and O-Coordinator that would run a similar scheme that we run today...that will be the key to an easier transition of the offense scheme remains in tact...

Or just hire Canada.

As great as this entire coaching staff has been, I say hire from within. With the outstanding players we have coming back next year we'd have continuity with the team. We'd also have a connection to at least some of our verbal commits and a better chance at hanging on to them. There are several strong HC candidates on this staff.

I wouldn't mind Carey and Nielsen hanging around...

I'd love it if Carey and Nielsen hung around, but I think Nielsen goes with DD. If not hire him as full-time DC and not co-DC. If he becomes head coach we're setting ourselves up for another two/three seasons and gone. I think with Narduzzi being a little older it could help him stay a little longer than one and done type of thing.

Yep. I would be fine with hiring from within or hiring Canada. Either way would be fine with me.

My dream scenario would be Canada hired as the HC, and then you promote Nielsen to DC. He's co defensive coordinator right now, so that might not even be enough to keep him from going with DD. I wouldn't mind if coach Kane was promoted to DC if that was the case.

This I agree with, unless all the coaches follow DD out the door (which I am afraid of).

Definitely agree with this, continuity is the most important thing for next year.

Most/all of them will go, but if you offer guys promotions they'll stay.

You can keep a coordinator by offer him the HC job and you can keep one or two position coaches by offer them coordinator jobs, but other than that they're all going to go.

Maybe a guy like Coach Uremovich (who I think is a really good coach) would stay because he's a local guy.
