RE: Monarch Nation's Coverage of ODU Football
Great summary. This time of year it is difficult to find any Monarch football news, so thanks for taking the edge off of my withdrawal symptoms.
Have you looked at the 247 recruiting web site? An article on who ODU is pursuing for next year might be interesting. There are no commits yet, but we have offers out to a sizeable group, including Ricky Walker, a four-star DT at Bethel. Walker is being highly recruited with about 20 BCS schools showing interest, but he continues to have ODU on his interest list of five schools, the rest of which are all BCS schools. ODU aiming high!

RE: Monarch Nation's Coverage of ODU Football
Monarch Nation's spring football practice is below. I can't be there to cover practices (writing for this site is not my primary job, let alone that I live four hours away) but that doesn't mean the site will be dormant! For example - which 2013 opponent has suspended its leading rusher? Which opponent's head coach has taken a leave of absence for the season?

Which Old Dominion player hoping to be granted a sixth year of eligibility was denied by the NCAA? Which 2013 opponent may lose one running back after its second all-time leading rusher graduated? Which of Old Dominion's 2013 opponents wants its opponents to raid the CAA for his own conference's benefit? Click the link to find out!

Monarch Nation provides its final glimpse around spring football with the post below.
If you've been following along the last month, you'd know that the expected starting RB at Pitt transferred; starting running backs at Liberty and ECU were suspended; and a Maryland QB was granted a sixth year of eligibility. In the post below, you'll find out which Conference USA team excused eight members from its program and why the Conference USA Freshman of the Year was arrested over the weekend.

RE: Monarch Nation's Coverage of ODU Football
From Fairbanks article:
Indeed, ODU's offensive playbook is fairly thin, with variations on a relatively few number of plays, which tested Heinicke's patience.
"At the beginning of spring, I was forcing really bad passes," he said. "I was trying to throw the ball deep a lot. And that's not our offense. Throw a five-yard hitch here and there, and that's our offense."
"Quarterbacks coach Ron Whitcomb delivered a message that stuck with him: Don't get bored with success.
"That really got to me," Heinicke said. "We were successful when I'd take the easy completion and stay within the offense. Ever since he told me that, I've been doing that."
That's gold.
