Doesn't appear like there was. They have been shifting interests there for a long time.

RE: ODU Master Plan
Anyone close to NS knows they have a location in ATL. Norfolk city leaders are clearly aware. If they were shut out from key local NS leaders than so be it. And this is the result when that happens.

Still baffles me that they would put such a high profile program that far from most of
the students. Especially when building new dorms and becoming more residential.

Makes sense to me. They must have reworked the master plan some more and have all the traditional undergrad located at the Norfolk Campus. This program makes sense given the location to the bio-corridor .

Sure it would be nice to have it in Norfolk. However for that to make sense we would have a much closer relationship with EVMS, or another look at a merger.

Most definitely! Although I think they changed the title to “charge nurse” to avoid any confusion04-cheers

Both of those things should still happen at some point. Certainly more collaboration in the near future. If I’m a parent of a kid who wants to be in this major, paying for them to live on campus, I’d be pissed they have to find a ride to a place 15-20 miles away. Hopefully they will have shuttles.

Relax. The Virginia Beach campus is mostly for commuters and graduate students. Most nursing students will still be on campus. And for those commuting for telehealth training (something most schools don't offer), it's a small inconvenience for a great learning opportunity.

I believe we're also planning on building a new Health Sciences building on campus. So yeah. Not much commuting will be happening from campus to this location.

As for being in the middle of the bio corridor, it's brilliant. We're going to be able to partner with so many great orgs; LifeNet, Operation Smile, CHKD and Sentara.

Theres talk of dropping Hampton Blvd down to two lanes. At this point it seems they're only discussing it from campus north, but if they did this from the hospital all the way to Little Creek it would dramatically change campus, in a good way. A quieter, less busy street running through the middle would make it much more appealing and traditional. Also, if they remove traffic lanes, it opens the possibility of LRT being extended up Hampton Blvd to campus and on to the base. I think this plan has potential.

I think this is a good thing for ODU. Hampton Blvd is too busy for a university. Might be able to help businesses on Hampton Blvd as well because people wont be zipping past them.

ODU Master Plan
Wouldn't dropping from 3-4 lanes down to 2 increase traffic? The trucks still have to go that way regardless of the number of lanes. I would like change too but I don't think removing lanes makes ODU nicer. Getting in and out of football and basketball games would be remarkably worse.

RE: ODU Master Plan
I doubt this happens. But even if it did, there would still be three lanes on both sides of Hampton through campus. The change of traffic starts at Bolling Ave and goes North.

If anything, cars headed south would drive faster through ODU as they escaped the bottleneck this would create.

Its really not that hard to leave or get to an ODU football game. If that change happened I doubt it affects that much.

It would likely drive more fans coming from the peninsula to take Granby instead of Hampton. Hampton North would be a parking lot after games.

What about all the trucks that use Hampton Blvd? Are they going to route all trucks from the docks down Terminal Blvd?\ to the highway rather than using the mid-town tunnel? That would be ideal!
