RE: ODU Master Plan
Mayor Alexander is expected to announce a major investment/expansion of the ERT on April 6th at Plum Point Park at 4pm.

Given the location of the event, it's likely a better connection from Chelsea to Fort Norfolk.

I posted a while back about the grant they received to work on the shoreline and trail near Harbor Park, so more details on that may also be included in the announcement.

Whatever it is, I'm hoping a better connection to ODU through West Ghent and Lambert's Point is included.

I really hope the light rail goes to ODU. How did you find this out?

Me too. But we won't know for a while. It's been an excruciatingly slow process but I'm happy the DoT made them study the Westside.

My post is about the Elizabeth River Trail, that goes from Harbor Park to Lochhaven. It's a scenic path for joggers, walkers and cyclists.

A safe biking trail from ODU to Chelsea would be a very welcome addition.

Wasn't there going to be a bike trail from Hampton Roads to Richmond?

I miss biking on the 50-100 mile trails in Minnesota. Been thinking about biking down to OBX this summer. Haven't started looking for a route though.

There was one built between Richmond and Williamsburg called the Virginia Capital Trail. It's 51.7 miles one way and there are multiple parking locations along the route if you want a shorter trip.

That's the one I saw last night before I made the post. I thought it was longer than that. I'm going to do that trip this summer.

Thanks.

I'd also recommend doing the great dismal canal trail if you haven't already. It's a great place for a quick ride.

That sounds great actually. I can drop my wife off at Green Briar and go biking instead of waiting. Thanks for this.

I think Sessoms will be missed. I am quite positive he supported light rail and all forms of growth and development and investing in young people, but the people did not. I once caught a wave with the guy bodysurfing so maybe I'm biased, but I thought he was a great guy and really down to earth.

Agree. I think he has been fantastic for VB.

Not ideal for VB residents. IMO, he's been great for VB.

But for ODU, it's TBD. Too many factors at play to say one way or the other (i.e. Who ends up as the replacement? Can Will help us more as a private citizen? Etc.). But given his position as a BOV member and how much we have grown the VB campus during his time as mayor, it will have an impact on ODU.

Ya, he's been pretty darn good for the city. Many on my Facebook page are saying good riddance. Not sure why really.

Yeah the hate is confounding. The city is undeniably a better place than it was when he arrived.
