Batten coming off the Bench
I suggested this in the offseason and it didn't go over so well on the boards. This is a great move. You need to have some instant firepower off of the bench. Batten provides that and will have the role of volume scorer once he enters the game.

Bacote is more of a player who can adjust to any form of a halfcourt offense while Batten is more of a "Microwave" scorer. This will allow Batten to be aggressive at all times. Batten can realistically enter the game for anyone of the starters as Bacote, Hill and Wright offer tremendous flexibility being able to play multiple positions.

This is a slam dunk that is now being reported by Ed Miller.

As long as he isn't getting a total of 13 minutes when it counts, I am fine with it.

The low minutes might be because he wants to see how the freshmen perform in game situations. I think Taylor already knows how Batten performs.

I hope your right. He also had 2 quick fouls, which may have limited his 1st half minutes.

RE: Batten coming off the Bench
The starting lineup for this team is pointless. Minutes will likely be distributed quite evenly. If Batten performs best when "coming off the bench", then have him come off the bench. It was the same thing with Wendy Larry and Jessica Canaday.

Technically, every player comes off the bench. The objective is for Batten to score, and I don't see that as being a problem. He can hit from anywhere on the floor.

RE: Batten coming off the Bench
Having Batten come off the bench, makes ODU's bench a strength. Now all of a sudden you have Batten, Ross, Clarke, and hopefully an improved Larsen coming off the bench. That's Shooting, athleticism, and size from your bench. AND Clarke looks to be pretty heady. The only reason this works is because of how good Palmore and Bacote have looked. I'm pretty excited, can't remember freshman guards looking so solid so early.

Batten and Ross will be beasts as RS Sophomore's coming off the bench. Potentially are two best players and two of the most athletic in the CAA.

It's some sort of hydration issue. I think he has to hydrate more than the average person.
