RE: Tosin Mehinti commits to UAB(Champlin story link @ post #8)
I imagine every coach says the same thing. No one "promises" playing time. But every coach sells the recruit that IF they work hard, they COULD play early. Temple fans are just trying to explain away why someone they recruited would choose someone else.

(I'm guessing that they really didn't want him)
No excuses, but our message board editor was told that he picked UAB because they guaranteed he would start as a freshman. Coach Dunphy does not guarantee playing time to anyone, freshman or senior.

Wasn't me, but that's pretty cool. Our pro football team stinks very much.

Are those guys actually starting (or was that for 2013)? Besides, no one at UAB would pi$$ on Martelli if he was on...oh, wait, we did...
No, they were a few years ago.
Tyreek Duren- LaSalle starting PG
Aaric Murray- LaSalle, transferred to WVU. Has had a lot of problems.
CJ Aiken- St. Joe's starting PF

I talked to two contacts I speak to on occasion down in Georgia, and they both told me - one last night and one this morning - that Tosin Mehinti picked UAB because the staff there told him he would start right away."
Not trying to make excuses, just stating the facts. You are wrong, because coaches do indeed promise playing time (which they often don't get).

Coaches do...except yours? Kelso's got a message for you:
RE: Tosin Mehinti commits to UAB(Champlin story link @ post #8)
That reply does not state that he was promised anything. I think that we can all agree that such a player "would start right away" - no promise or guarantee of anything. I guess if he decided he wanted to shoot the three every time he touched the ball UAB would be stuck because some guy talked to two contacts in GEorgia and those two guys stated the obvious that this player should " start right away" and some troll from Temple decided that the player was promised a starting position, so that he could make himself feel better about losing a recruit.

Tyler Madison is a phenomenal athlete. Seems to excel in transition which should allow him to do good things here. Still don't understand why he didn't get more attention by other schools unless he just didn't really attend camps or wasn't really involved in AAU. Whatever the reason, I'm not complaining because I think UAB got a great one in Madison.

Let him live in peace with his reasoning. It's cold and damp under the bridge.
How am I trolling?
we define trolling a little differently than some. anybody that has less than 5,000 blazertalk specific posts and then says something that anybody here slightly disagrees with is a troll

Of course, anyone can start the game. But, how many total minutes will he get? Who is on court at the end of the game? Who is on the floor when it counts?

I assure you, it's not sour grapes. Sour grapes is my feeling about our top 2 big men targets we lost to Syracuse and South Florida. At this point, it's more frustration at our coaches who cannot recruit a big man to play in the Big East, with a brand new practice facility.
