RE: GameDay Ohio
Good opening drive with no points to show for it. Hoskins has to make that catch.
Ohio moving the ball with ease right now.

The opening five minutes of this game just summed up our season pretty well.

The run blocking seems a bit better tonight than I can remember it in recent games as well. Nice to see EMU finally take advantage of an opportunity like that.

RE: GameDay Ohio
Very entertaining game so far (7-7).
English is rotating a lot of RBs + Gillett.
Maybe Ohio will be confused by Hill, Scherer, Brumfield, Greene, Gillett, etc.
Wonder when we are going to get some trickeration?

Might as well try some tricks. If we want any chance of winning, Karcher has to think outside the box...something he hasn't been known to do.

You would think coaches at this level wouldn't see or care about what people like us are talking about, that would be kinda like high school. But then again this program is kinda like high school, at least from the coaching aspect. These kids come here winners and sadly leave losers...( as athletes )
This has been the case for more than a decade. Alex Gillett went 6-6 versus FBS teams last year, 2-10 the year before, and 0-3 this year. That makes Gillett a sterling 8-19 as a starter.
Taking shots at the staff is weak. Yes, the team has underachieved this season, but if you recall the 6-6 season occurred largely because of the improvement in defense. Gillett simply managed the game. This season, with the defense struggling, Gillett was incapable of making EMU’s offense productive enough for the team to be competitive. Benz, meanwhile, has been hot-and-cold. Two 40 pt games at least makes this team semi-watchable. Benz is also only a sophomore.
I think we can all agree that Ken Karcher has done a less than great job a as an OC, but two 40 pt games gives us some hope for the future.

Considering how terrible we've been against the read option this year, I'd say the run D looks just fine.
Keeping Tettleton contained on 3rd down is our problem right now.

This is Brumfield's 3rd straight drive. I hope Hill isn't hurt...

Ugh, another big run on 3rd down. Big missed tackle by Hunter Matt...he looks like a freshman today.

He's gotten run over TWICE on critical plays.
The other was 3rd down and 'long' (lot of 'longs' which are being makes).
He doesn't look big enough yet.
Mulamba is doing a lot of chasing. When he is right he is right; when he is wrong...

Mulumba looks very good tonight. We are defending the read option well. Our trouble on 3rd downs is masking that, though.

I can see where you are coming from eagle statistically, but you are all over English's nuts and it has to be because he used to coach for Michigan. And honestly, for English saying he is working with the D just makes English that much more of a crappy coach.

Our stellar tackling is on display again, which is symptomatic of English-led defenses.

English should be embarrassed that he ever had to start Gillett in the first place.

Actually, I am not “all over his nuts”. I have been openly critical of English quite often. But the fact is that your nephew has not performed well this year. That is a fact. Benz has lead EMU to two 40 plus games as a new starter. The most EMU has scored under Gillett is 26 and he is a senior.
EMU is losing games with both players so either way we fans are no satisfied. Arguing about the QB in a season where the entire team is failing misses the forest for the tree. This program has issues much bigger than Alex Gillett or Tyler Benz. I can blame either kid for this team’s lack of success.
