I VOTED
Hey guys,

Just wanted to encourage everyone to get out and vote. Early voting has already started. I was in and out in less than five minutes. Literally no waiting in line.

For those of us in favor of the stadium, it is very important we vote yes on Prop 3.

It wouldn't hurt to get some others to vote for it as well.

Yes sir, very important to El Paso.

As for the presidency, I'm not crazy about either candidate..... But Tim Floyd is as good as any....04-rock

It's been stated in commercials that it doesn't matter if you vote yes or no, the stadium is going to be built.

However, I have seen people near early voting venues that are holding up signs saying " Vote no for baseball stadium".

Which only proves what we all already knew: the communication, on both sides, has been FUBAR; and there is a portion of the population that always protests, whether there is a reason to or not.

I will be voting no on all three and I have instructed my wife and daughter to do the same.

With the added expense of a stadium, we cannot afford to spend more money.

RE: I VOTED
So instead of letting hotel guests pay for 70% of the stadium, you voted no, to save money, by having the stadium paid for by the general fund. Genius.

This says it all right here. I was right in my assessment of your motivations. You run your house like a dictatorship which is how you want the city, and presumably the country to operate, how about you let them have a freedom of opinion. My wife is a left leaner and I will not be "instructing" her to vote in either direction, she can make up her own mind.

Edit: Forget it...there I go again

What a ******* moron...

Well, if you had to instruct them... Is this more about winning and losing to you? You do know you're going to lose no matter what, right? The stadium is being built one way or the other

I voted too, but in Maryland, waited 1 1/2 hours in line. If I lived in El Paso I would have voted for the increase in the hotel tax. Some people think small and don't vote to support new sports teams. Getting ready for Hurricane Sandy.04-cheers

I'm not gonna lie, Sandy is kind of scaring me a bit. Not the storm though, the power outages.

Agree. I think the power outages are going to be the bigger widespread problem. Stay safe Miner friends

After 17 years in Maryland we've been through many power outages and it's never good but we try to make the best of it. By the way I have my tickets for the Old Spice Classic, can't wait.

It's about fiscal responsibility. We need to send a message to our city council that they need to be fiscally responsible.

It is fiscally irresponsible to demolish a fixable building in order to build a stadium that will serve only a small segment of the community.

I'll participate in the circle jerk a little longer...

Your post was a fair statement. The time to make that point has come and gone though. It is simply trolling to continue to pout about that. The stadium is coming.

Prop #3 is very simple. It is about how the stadium, which is coming, is going to be funded. Nothing more.

Voting against prop #3 is fiscally irresponsible. Sending a message by being fiscally irresponsible is idiotic at best.

That's extremely small minded and short sighted thinking. By investing in the downtown area, creating something that will help in the development of the city overall, you are going to eventually get a great return on that investment and see your city progress. If you instead patch old buildings and go for the status quo, you will be throwing good money after bad and help to keep financial and infrastructure growth at bay and add to the decay of the city of El Paso. The latter is typical of people who can't see past the end of their nose.

I disagree. There have been plenty of books written that clearly show that sports stadiums do not improve the economy of a city. As a matter of fact, it does the opposite.

That El Paso is going to demolish a building that was already paid for by the tax payers only makes things worse.

RE: I VOTED
Cool story. You should have made that point at the City Council meeting where committing to the stadium was up for debate. You could have cited the dewey decimal system and referenced those awesome books you keep talking about. That time has come and gone. City Hall is a goner. The stadium is coming. Hotel tax dollars can pay for the majority or it or we can pay for all of it. That is the only thing up for vote at this time. Nothing else.
