Nice essay on hurricanes
It's pretty much the end of the season, but I enjoyed this essay. Learned a lot too, from someone who actually knows about the subject. Nearly unprecedented.

Looks like it may, or may not, go out with a bang.

Unfortunately that is just the news anymore... every year we have the 100 year storm... whether a hurricane, a snow storm, a rain storm... doesn't matter, it is the 100 year storm or "storm of the century" or whatever title they need to give it to get ratings. I think since 2000 that Dayton, Ohio has had 3 of them (2 snow storms and Hurricane Ike coming through with the huge wind).

The east coast needs hurricanes. Without them, there is drought. I hope this "Sandy" storm brings some rain cause we could use it. Unfortunately, with the rain comes the wind which isn't so good.
