I see this two different ways.
1. I want the coaches to support the conference and put South Florida in the Top 25.
2. On the other hand, I want them to do nothing but vote their conscience.

Which is the right thing to do?

I think all 4 coaches should recieve a friendly call from the league office asking them to consider USF for next week if they continue to win. That away the league office was just doing a little politicing and not trying to cause a big problem. I think all four coaches are smart and would get the idea. Although they should have figured it out on their own!!

How does the coaches poll work, one vote per coach or do they rank teams 1 - 25?

Little bit o lag there? Jeez. I know you want us to win, but at least spread it across a couple threads 04-cheers .

Anyway, whether or not coaches are voting their conscience, USF is a 5-3 team with a schedule most would find hard to argue is outside the top 20 if not the top 15 or 10. I am pretty disgusted that we are not significantly higher at this point. We should probably be around #28 or so right now, with a win next week putting us in the top 25 based on the coaches "conscience". 3 loss teams like USC and florida have little over us past the school or coaches name.

Will a 7-3 USF team be #19 in 2 weeks (assuming we do not lose)? That's what USC is right now, with that oh-so-impressive win over now 7-3 florida (also ranked #20). Well guess what? UL is #18, ahead of USC's best win, and USC's next best win is UCF! Unless you want to count a miserable, not yet bowl eligible UT squad.

If the polls were to avoid total and absurd bias and rank us top 20 at 7-3, then an upset (and regardless of what we do in the next 2, a WVU win would be an upset!) of WVU should really put us in the top 15, hardly terrible for a BCS average. If we lose, BE sends a top 10 team again (assuming WVU wins out, which is pretty likely if you are already considering USF to have lost).

If both teams lay eggs to !@#$ somehow (like USF losing 2, WVU losing 2, one of which is usf, almost impossible), UL will probably also be in the top 15 anyway! That sounds like a BCS conference to me.

The BE can't help it if it sends a 8-3 team with a top notch SOS to a bowl with a low ranking if the ONLY reason for the low ranking is bias. Incidently, who else thinks auburn jumping WVU is kinda stupid? They lost to GA tech! Put them behind where they belong.

Once again, fellas, transative relationships can't truly work in sports. Yes, my favorite team beat Auburn, but that was in week one and many things have changed since then.

If you guys want BE coaches to simply vote favorably for BE teams, then be prepared for every other league to do likewise and vote favorably for teams from their league. It's a Catch 22.

On the other hand, maybe these coaches actually don't feel like USF is quite there yet. Maybe they find USF needing one more win? Maybe Petrino, understanding my first point above, considers the USF game the anomoly to an otherwise clockwork like season. We don't know for sure, but obviously they didn't feel enough to warrant sitting there and putting "USF" on the ballot.

Considering how much the polls are regarded, and where they should be regarded, best for USF to simply keep playing and let the W's to the talking for them.

*FWIW, I'll add that USF played another decent game on Saturday and deserved the win. This is an all-time low for this Cuse fan, but I'll give credit where due.

I was a bit surprised myself. I don't want coaches to falsely vote to boost up their conferences (as I'm sure some do), but I would think that USF should have been perceived by more coaches to be in the top 25. Perhaps, it was the fact that they, USF, played fewer games than most teams. There has to be an explanation that's rational.

Perhaps, the BE coaches voted their consciences, and coaches from other conferences fudged on their ethics a bit.

Jim 04-cheers

Honestly, when you think about it, this type of thinking is what keeps the good ole boys at the top. When a coach votes for a school in his conference just to keep them in the rankings that isn't being honest necessarily. It's not that I don't think USF should be in or near the top 25 but merely pointing out that this line of thinking keeps very average Tennessee teams in the top 25 long after they should have been moved out. I know UT lost to some good teams but the SEC probably all vote for themselves. Let's face it, the system is corrupt in itself.

Ding! Ding! Ding! Pete we have a winner. What? The system corrupt 03-confused Can't be  Face it polls suck. They make the fans happy and furious, but are truely meaningliess. In reality they have great sway. Does that make sense? I didn't communicate that well. None-the-less, we all know there is only one way to get things right. PLAYOFF. But, thanks to the polls, the Big East would not be well represented there either. Dang polls! :bang:

Did you ever consider that every team in the top 25 has at least 7 wins. USF isn't even friggin' bowl eligible yet. Maybe after they pick up that 6th win, we'll think about it. But 5-3? C'mon. Let's be real.

It seems that coaches from the Big East are starting to become BIG USF fans:

Ok, then just answer this: If we make it to 7-3, will we be ranked at least #20?

If not, please justify the current #19 and #20 being there now, since USF has an arguably harder/at least equal schedule to one, and clearly ahead of the other in terms of performance vs that schedule.
