RE: OT: Coaches Hot Seat Ranking
WHAT IF the entire AU staff is kept and next year they don't lose their top QB (Z. Pike) to an arrest for being stupid while drunk. Keep in mind that the staff never intended to have to go through this season with either of the QBs with whom they were left when Pike exited.
AU and UAB have equal records. Who will have the better record at the end?

RE: OT: Coaches Hot Seat Ranking
The bigger loss was the RB that tried to go to Ark State.
Edit: They weren't world beaters last year either.
Edit again: Not too much into competing with Auburn on victories, but we have several games left where we may be the favorite.

Looking at the remainder of our respective schedules, I'd say we'd finish with more wins than them.

You know whats funny? I heard on the radio today in Nashville that Watson Brown could be the new coach at Tennessee. They were joking but to even make the suggestion is just appalling to me.

Oh Please, Oh Please Lawd let this be true. Let Watson coach the Orange menace, Saban is getting flirtations from the Browns & Chezdik setting Auburn back far enough to make Doug Barfield look good.
The sports reporters in this town would be lining up to throw themselves off the Tennessee River Bridge.

As Yogi says "Youneverknow" ! Give Zero the big SEC checkbook to recruit and hire assistants with and let him coach at a place that will ignore any warts and player misdeeds as long as he wins. Im sure he could have fielded a winner here if UAB admissions would have looked the other way while he signed every kid that could spell BALL after you spotted them an A and two Ls.

No way Auburn fires Cheezit for $7 million and hires Petrino. That kind of buyout might happen in Tuscaloosa but not Auburn. He's beat Bama once, won the SEC, coached a Heisman, and won a national championship in the last two years. Remember how long they kept Tubberville around...

If Auburn lowers their standards & hires Petrino, I don't know what to think of them.
I tended to believe that they had a good thing in Tuberville.
I don't believe Chizik was right for the job, however I don't believe either that they should get rid of him after this year.

We complain about our academic recruiting restrictions, but they certainly weren't present under Watson. We had many recruits that were just as you suggested...multiple recruits (I'm not saying all recruits) told me they chose UAB because they had a better chance of getting in compared to other places they were looking.
I don't usually claim to have a lot of inside knowledge, but in this area, I definitely do

Everybody keeps saying this. I get it. But the rumor now is a group of boosters. This isn't just fans talking, or Finebaum stirring crap up. The problem with Chizik is you can basically sum up his career achievements in one season. Take that one season out, and you have a sub-par coach. I'm not saying I'm right or wrong about this, but it is intriguing to me. We all know that Petrino would (a) win games at Auburn and (b) screw Auburn over eventually.
And let's not act like there aren't Auburn boosters out there who could come up with that $7 million tomorrow if Petrino is the guy they really want there.
Petrino's a double edged sword without a doubt, but I won't be in the Petrino will never be hired there group because I can see some circumstances where Auburn may indeed hire him.

I would rather they go the route of finding dirt on the opposing school, but whatever .....
Once again, until they remove Dye from the picture, ain't no telling what will happen.
There is no doubt that they would pony up the money though this year if the hat was passed around.

If the will among the rainmakers to get rid of him is there, he'll be gone.

Oh, at this point, I don't see how he stays. If I were an Auburn fan I'd want him gone immediately. About the only person I've heard who thinks he deserves more time is Pat Dye, and that is just out in public.

RE: OT: Coaches Hot Seat Ranking
I'll buck the conventional wisdom and submit that Chizik could lose every remaining game and still keep his job.
Auburn has a stellar class (5 three stars just on defense alone) coming in.
No one is going to jeopardize that by tossing the coach and the staff those players committed to.
Chizik would have to lose to Alabama A&M by double digits for me to reassess his chances of being fired.

Coaches with loaded recruiting classes get fired all the time.
They're putting talent on the field now and getting these results.
