Also don't forget the game was nationally televised. Another reason for fans to stay home on a dreary day.

RE: NEXT: Delaware
I stayed home to watch on TV...was curious about what we would look like on broadcast. Was totally pleasantly suprised by the quality (HD!!). Glad I stayed in. The weather was sucky...did not feel like sitting in the rain for 4 hours.
If that makes me a bad fan....well then I guess I'm a bad fan.

That is why you will remain a bench warmer! :)
By the way I was taking 1000mg of Ciproflaxin to combat the pneumonia in my right lung.... but still went.... my wife thought I was crazy and that it was too wet and rainy for her..... she is a girl.

RE: NEXT: Delaware
Two things:
1. It was Osyter Bowl weekend. I may be showing my age here, but in my day, Oyster Bowl was THE party weekend at ODU. In those days the students went crazy around campus. Our ritual would be to hit the ABC store first thing in the morning, buy our Aristocrat flavor of the day, do a little drinking, stumble to Foreman Field and watch VMI vs W&M/Citadel/whoever, then hit a party or four before passing out at who knows what time. I have no clue if Oyster Bowl has the same meaning for today's students. If so, my guess is that most of the students did the drinking from home or at a party and maybe watched the game on TV. If not, then I have no idea where they were.
2. Based on the above and the once a year event it was to have a football game on campus, back then I would have killed to have a football team at ODU. Oyster Bowl weekends were a blast and even at a younger age I knew that the comraderie around campus would increase exponentially with a football team to cheer for. I am way disconnected from student life nowadays, but I have the suspicion that students take the football team for granted. Any students in here, please let me know if I am incorrect with that assessment. All I know is that if we had a football team back in my day, my buddies and I would be in line for tickets every week and watched every game from finish to end.
Thus ends my trip down memory lane...

RE: NEXT: Delaware
As a student, I am slightly disappointed with the performance of the student section. But then again maybe I am overly infatuated with ODU sports. Throughout the season, most of my friends have left by half time (sometimes after the first quarter) and left me alone to watch the game. I do give a pass to all the students for last week due to the weather. Lets be serious, it wasn't just rain, it was made out to be a devastating storm so I don't mind students not attending. I just look forward to the final home game! I've been trying to get my friends excited by telling its the black out game and the rivalry with W&M.
Also, the students don't really care about the Oyster Bowl. Sorry. I think it could have caught on if we started a trophy rivalry with JMU instead (who I view as our #1 rival now).

I think that will change next year when we head down to Greenville. Hopefully they'll stick around long enough to get a trophy rivalry going.

I can imagine!
At the Richmond game:
It was funny to watch the expressions on the Cosby Band kids when we would chant UDO, UDO, UDO, and then ODU, ODU, ODU depending the location of the flag guys; and that wasn't even a mistake.

?
After a touchdown, the ODU "flag guys" ran across the field out of order. Of course it had to happen at a nationally televised game.

Shortly after the great D O U moment, the flag guys came back by the end zone. I started yelling "D O U, D O U..." the 3 of them started to smile and crack up.... then the section around me picked it up. It was very funny.

For the record, Moseley's issue has to do with transferring schools in high school, not that he didn't make the grades. It's the same thing that hit 2 of VCU's recruits.
