Salt Lake Tribune endorses Obama

This one is a bit of a stunner to me. Utah is clearly Romney country but it says something to me when the state's largest paper (and I doubt one that would be considered liberal in scope at all) endorses Obama over Romney.

I doubt it does much in the overall election landscape but it's still a shocker.

Considering 90% of the media is far left of center, this is not shocking.

I'm sure the paper will get a bunch of canceled subscriptions out of this. Not a good business move.

According to this site, 63 of the largest 89 papers in 2008 that endorsed presidential candidates endorsed Obama. 63-26 is not 90 pct. So far the numbers are much closer in 2012 (I'm not sure how often this site is updated).

I do think you're right about the cancelled subscriptions - the comments on the newspaper site are rather angry. The Tribune endorsed Obama in 2008 so it may be a little more liberal than I first thought, but it did endorse Bush in 2000 and 2004.

I just watched the Utah governors debate. The Republican(current gov) IMHO won the debate over the Democrat. Both seemed relatively sane and civil.
