Why not go look back at the past elections most if not all of the cases the black vote was in the same range for the white Democrat in the running. It is party voting not racial outside maybe a few percent at most.
Can't you say the same thing about southerners voting for a liberal?
No. The hate is especially strong from South Carolina to Texas for this one. I suspect that their are a lot of things in play besides racism.
1.) the neo-republican party is one that champions traditional white southern values by making scapegoats of blacks and Hispanics. Historically these values have included land, church, strong local governments, social caste systems and the virtues white womanhood.
2.) The concept of Obama (no so much the real man) threatens all of this. He's characterized as a foreign, black, radical muslim that wants to take your stuff.
3.) If Obama succeeds it will fly in the face of many of the beliefs held in this part of the country. Blacks are suppose to be of a lower class. Obama threatens to empower the nearly 26 blacks living in the south. His "Muslim" name is a direct threat to Christianity. His liberal views threaten conservative dogma. His desire to level the playing field threatens the many built in advantages of white southerners.
4.) Obama's confidence rubs this group the wrong way. Really any black man that isn't humble is a problem. Pick any black sports figure or entertainer that has some swagger, look at how they are covered by southern conservatives.
5.) Obama doesn't neatly fit into any box so it's easy to add things onto him like that he wants to kill newborns, born in Kenya, take away your guns, date your daughter, etc.
