Jobless claims UP. Bye Bye Barrack.
"Weekly applications for U.S. unemployment benefits jumped 46,000 last week to a seasonally adjusted 388,000, the highest in four months. The increase represents a rebound from the previous week's sharp drop."

Even NBC can't spin this

Does anyone actually believe these numbers anymore? Regardless of who they support?

I certainly don't. But this removes a big part of the Big O's BS stump speech. That is all I care about at this point. Unemploymnt and underemployment in the USA have been at a near crisis stage for 4 years.

I figured this was going to be the case though I was hoping it wouldn't. Last week's numbers were so unrealistic this was bound to happen.

This is a 13% increase, the highest in 5 years. The BLS is blaming "administration" issues at the state level for last week, whatever that means.

Frankly I don't think the BLS has a freakin clue what they're doing.

The BLS has become a bloated useless bureaucracy. They might as well be printing their reports on toilet paper.

+1. We can agree on this. However, The Big O was running on last week's numbers...and now he can no longer spin his BS.

With so many people early voting, the last unemployment number that most people will see before heading to the polls is 7.8%.

The American people (those listening) know that the lies from the Obama camp are coming non-stop. The Libya scandal proved that to many. Obama trying to sell the things are not that bad, and are getting better, ring hollow. We are in crisis.

First, there is no scandal.

Second, the average American voter doesn't give a fruck about Libya.

The Middle East/terrorism finished fifth or sixth in most polls for national priorities. Keep banging that drum as much as you want. No one is listening.

Yeah, if my guy had a US Ambassador's blood on his hands, I wouldn't much want to talk about it, either.

Uh.. There's a dead Ambassador, that's not made up.. He requested more security, that's been proven... He was denied said security, again not made up.. Then it was said this was a spontaneous attack caused by a Youtube video, again it's documented.. Please show me what's made up?

Romney-Ryan believe in unlimited embassy security. That's why Paul Ryan voted to cut embassy security.

RE: Jobless claims UP. Bye Bye Barrack.
Quote:CLOUDY OUTLOOK

Within the jobless claims report, the four-week moving average of new claims rose 750 last week to 365,500. A month ago that figure stood at 378,500.

The government last week reported claims fell an unusually large 30,000 in the October 6 week to reach the lowest level in more than four years. But a Labor Department official said it appeared that state-level administrative issues were distorting the data at the start of October.

The government adjusts its jobless claims figures to take into account regular seasonal swings. Claims usually increase at the beginning of a quarter, but one state appears to be following a different reporting pattern than normal, which led to the wild fluctuations recently, the official said.

The official declined to name the state, although the Labor Department said that California was the only state in the week ending October 6 to report a decrease in claims of more than 1,000.

The distortions make it hard to assess the degree to which the claims data signal an improvement in hiring in October.

Last week was the same period used by the Labor Department to survey employers and calculate how many workers were added to payrolls in October. The drop in the four-week average from a month ago suggests hiring picked up.

"It does look like the labor market is improving at least in that respect," said Pierre Ellis, an economist at Decision Economics in New York.

Separately, the Philadelphia Federal Reserve Bank said its business activity index rose to 5.7 in October from minus 1.9 the month before, snapping five months of negative readings that pointed to contraction. The October reading topped economists' expectations for a gain to 1, according to a Reuters poll.
