RE: no game thread?
baby steps....

1) pk looked better
2) pp looked better
3) frank looked better
4) energy of team looked better

...conclusion......we are working on a game by game improvement. if anything, i don't want to be ranked so high this early in the season. we will improve as the seaon goes on. st. lawrence may have placed 8th in the ecac last season but they didnt' graduate any of theyre top scorers. its only october and we are figuring things out already. st lawrence was pressuring our d on friday and saturday it didn't factor as much.

additives for later....the energy factor that ian had on the team will need to be figured out.

RE: no game thread?
This win just doesn't seem satisfactory. I'm happy that the team won and everything, but a sweep would've felt awesome, and the WMU football loss really, really stings.

Coupled that with the Lions being awful and there being no NHL season, it's just not like last year in sports.

RE: no game thread?
seriously... and they lost 5-1 the night before. Either they are really bad, or minnesota is really good. Maybe a combination of the 2

State's got a pretty young team as well. They'll be better as the season goes on, but Minnesota is a top 2-3 team in the country. The only reason I wouldn't say #1 is because Boston College still plays hockey.

It was great seeing the guys from the 85-86 championship team last night. I casually knew a few of them back in the day. Good guys - great team.

RE: no game thread?
Who was there? I lived in the in the Burnams with a bunch and knew them too. They were a fun bunch, the year before they had that good run in the Joe, they were really looking forward to the 85/86 season, it almost surprised them how good they were going to be.

I don't remember all the names but Pat Ryan, Jim Culhane, Bill Horn, Henry Fung and coach Wilkinson were there along with probably 8 others. The PA system at Lawson is every bit as bad as it was in 85-86. I had friends in the Burnhams back then and I'm trying to find a write up somewhere for one of them. He was asking about Dave Lobdell, Scott Howe, Jeff Kick and Chris McDonald. I think they lived there.

If they didn't they were in Draper, we shared the cafeteria with them on weekend. They were a tight knit group, Culhane was very proud of the level of hockey, always telling who was under contract for NHL teams.

This is an understatement. I was sitting in section 1 (end zone opposite of chairbacks) for the first and second periods on Friday night and couldn't hear a thing. Legitimately didn't hear the goal announcements or the fight song. I could barely make out what songs they were playing between whistles.

Rob Brydan, Dave Lobdell, and Chris McDonald were there.
