"Big 5", LOL, Yeah right.
The ACC is once again trying to scam everyone and claim superiority and that there is a "so called big 5". And some of you bought it hook, line, and sinker. The media even bought the lie. What a scam. What a lie. I hope Aresco is ramming BE vs. ACC stats and the latest polls down their throats. "Big 5", yeah right. Does anyone with half a brain REALLY believe ACC football is better than BE football (as much as my team has stunk it up). I hope Aresco has a copy of the AP Poll with 4 NBE teams in it, and is currently stuffing it down their throats.

I thought ND teamed up with the ACC because they wanted easier competition. Isn't that the real reason??

There is a Big 5--- its just that nobody told ESPN it was the B10, B12, PAC12, SEC and the Big East.

Aresco should demand a public apology from ESPN with a public flogging of Mark May, Rod Gilmore and Joe Tessitore.

probably has more to do with the tie in to the orange bowl & bowl access , bash the acc all you want but they can just laugh as they cash the big paycheck the orange bowl will afford them.

The current Big East is better than the ACC.

Keep on fightin the fight brother. I gave up.
Maybe the BE will get 20mil a year, top playoff revenue share, and the 7th bowl.
That would be stuffing it.

This is comical, everyone of you if offered to go to a "big 5" conference for your school would be packing your bags right now and saying "later sucker" to all the other present Big East schools. Presenting stats to TV partners that the ACC sucks isnt going to help attendance or TV ratings in the Big East.

But it will show the benefits/strengths that a new National Big East Conf can provide to their new/existing TV partners...as the Big East was always this tiny, mostly northeast conf that played the fewest conf games by far of any conf (just 28 games), never had divisional races or even a conf championship game.

All of that will change in 2013...the future of the Big East is BRIGHT, very bright...and I can't wait to see it!

As of right NOW, I think you're right, but things are really up in the air right now. The TV deal hasn't been announced, the idea of BYU joining still hasn't been finalized, and the 7th bowl hasn't been constructed. These are all things that currently make the Big East "weaker". Making the statement that teams should leave right now would be like advocating buying the 2013 model car for full price, when the anticipated 2014 model hasn't been finished yet. Who knows? Maybe the '14 model carries the same price tag with twice the specs? These are the rumors from the manufacturer!

What the OP is trying to say is that competition-wise, the argument is not there for the ACC being a stronger conference than the Big East. That's all. This is the only thing that cannot be bought, and I'd argue it's the most important piece to the puzzle. Because after all is said and done regarding these business deals, and everything being equal among the two conferences, the Big East comes out on top.

If the term "Big 5" didn't imply some sort of competitive superiority, then this discussion wouldn't be taking place either.
