Wow, interesting. I didn't know that it was that far along from happening. These conference realignments will impact everything from Olympic to World Cup bowl bids. I wonder if the UK will find a strong country moving up from FCS to round out the conference. And I wonder if Spain will maintain UN status once its weakened by Catalonia bolting.

Oops, sorry, I'm mixing it all up with college football.

The Channel Islands are primed to move up from FCS. They have strong banking and improving facilities but their market size just isn't there.

That ain't gonna happen, although this area is becoming bilingual. We'll probably be like Quebec someday. That would be sad.
Yeah, we know you hate brown people.

You're an a$$.

So anyone who wants this country to retain its English language heritage hates brown people? The English language and a love of freedom are the only two unifying elements we've had as a people for 400 years. IMHO, it's sad to see both of them slowly eroding.

Only a moron would conclude this has anything to do with skin color.
So I was right. You hate brown people.

Conservatives are color-blind to race. Liberals are obsessed with it.

Why do you hate white people? What have they ever done to you? Your posts are just filled with "hate-whitey" anger. What's up with that?

Well if Republicans were actually conservatives that would actually matter.

I mean, most of the areas that are bilingual aren't just becoming that way now and were that way for much of their history in the US. It's not as if massive hispanic immigration is a new thing.

The survey of almost 1,000 Scots showed support for the union at 53 per cent, with 28 per cent favouring a split.

Speaking of fragmentization, you all do know that Puerto Rico is voting on statehood this November, right?

I hope I didn't set off a chain reaction of name-calling and bickering from that post, but seriously that's happening again. They're pretty much almost a state already, I'm intrigued to see the results of their vote.

I doubt they'd vote in favor of it. They usually have three choices: Statehood, Independence, and No chance. They always choose no change. There are a lot of responsibilities in statehood and independence that I don't think they'd be willing to take up.

I don't think many here would be fond of a state who's official first language is Spanish.

I know. All fat. Don't put too many on the grill at once or you'll have a bond fire.

I was just in Puerto Rico last week and heard nothing of a state vote coming up. Heck, PR is basically like being in the US anyway. Not sure they would want the responsibilities of statehood given the federal $$'s they get now anyway without those responsibilities. PR is great, nice people, great food and weather.

PR is a US territory, so shouldn't it be like being in the US?

The problem is there is a sticking coefficient of "1" if they join. There is no option of "Join for 10-20 years and then both sides re-evaluate". And thanks to Lincoln, that precdent was trashed long ago.
