I'm obviously all for cutting bureaucratic bloat and reigning in pork. But a police force should always be adequately funded, one way or another. I often think about the type of violent scum they have to deal with on a daily basis.

This police funding problem is a symptom. The disease started with the late-60s race riots and continued with Mayor Coleman Young's leftist leadership, both chasing out businesses and hard-workers to suburbs or out of state, leaving precious little revenue-producing resources left. A complete decay of the family unit and a mindset where individual ambition was frowned upon took over, leaving swaths of violent neighborhoods in its wake.

As bad as Detroit may be, I wonder if sensationalizing it is a ploy by the union to get money out of the taxpayers.

Detroit will be the first MAJOR U.S. city to go bankrupt.

Homicide must confer an evolutionary advantage to our species or it would have been weeded out by Natural Selection long ago.
