We are possibly losing 1,000 season tickets in 2014
I just read an article by HM in the Virginian-Pilot's ODUBlitz. It seems that while the CAA requires home football teams to make 1,000 seats available for the visiting team, C-USA requires that 2,000 seats be made available. The article suggests that this will apply in 2014. That does not seem equitable to me if we are not full-fledged football members of the conference, able to win the conference title and eligible for a bowl game.
Of course, the impact is the loss of 1,000 season ticket seats if Ballard Stadium has not been expanded -- and at this point it seems somewhat of a stretch to expect the expansion in time for the 2014 season. It would make more sense to apply the rule in 2015 when we are a full football member of the conference. By then, we very well could have completed an expansion that will allow current season ticket holders to not be affected. I know I will be one upset honcho if I lose my tickets because of this rule in 2014.

They really should just put up temp bleachers in the one unused corner if we can't expand by 2014. Sure it'd only be a few hundred seats but that along with the natural decay of season ticket holders should allow us to get below the threshold in time.

You want a repeat of next year's schedule in 2014? Want to go from 9 games scheduled down to 1? CUSA's rules aren't restricting us from a conference title or bowl bid, it's an NCAA rule for transitioning teams.
You should be more worried about the reseating that will happen before next season.

The reason they may do it for next year is because that's when they are reseating.
The article also said they lose 500-750 season ticket holders a year, so I wouldn't be worried too much yet.

I understand that in the past two years they had a 92% renewal up from about 88% the year before. However the demand for tickets have risen by almost 50% from 2010, when ther was 2,600 on the waiting list to the current 4,500 now! Early on you did not fill in with your credit card to be on the list! You just signed up. The current system asks for a credit card, which lends itself to a much more feasible/prospect for the tickets that have been requested! Yes I understand it is optional, but still makes it more reliable.

I'd like to think you guys can have some sort of expansion completed by 2014. At the very least a completed endzone.

I was a full supporter of the move to C-USA to start with, but I am starting to like C-USA a whole lot. This really passes the common sense test -- something you don't see all that often in the NCAA these days. Kudos to ECU and the rest of C-USA. Thank you.

When did we ever see anything "common sense" from Tom Yeager or the CAA?

C-USA knows we are their big ticket when it comes to their expansion. We are the best program they have added, so of course they're going to use their better judgement and make sure we don't get screwed right off the bat.

Reseating will happen next year. If you aren't a part of ODAF, you probably aren't going to have season tickets. There are currently 1,400 season ticket holders that are not ODAF members

I'd be shocked if you haven't expanded before 2016, so I doubt this comes into play at all.

AD Wood said a few months back, no one that has season tickets now would lose their season tickets regardless of ODAF donations during the reseating. That people on the waiting list that are ODAF would have first priority over non ODAF waiting list people.

He also mention the sales tactic of the ODAF that were used last spring. People feared they would lose out if they didnt donate over $1000 and he said he received calls and emails from people who thought they would lose their tickets.

This is all great timing because I am one of the non donor season ticket holders. I got my undergrad from Odu and moved away for a while, moved back right in time for the start of football. Until now I haven't been in a position to donate but I definitely am going to donate now. I would be devastated if I lost my season tickets.

Do the monthly payment plan almost painless. Gift of $25/mo get you to the $300 level (White Knight).
