I'm hoping for a measurable improvement each week from the defense going forward. If we can make small gains week to week, we should be considerably better by playoff time. Don't need miracles, just small, measured improvements each week.

Likewise with the offense, I'd like to see time of possession & turnover improvements. Stay in bounds on catches; take more time getting set; cut down on INTs. The offense needs to do what it can to help the defense find its legs.

I agree that small, measured improvements will be how our defense regains its form in the coming weeks. This particular game would be a timely opportunity to showcase an improvement in the rush defense, especially our ability to limit the effectiveness of scrambling quarterbacks. No merit to being picky, though; any progress will be on point for the step-based improvement.

Here is what happens.
When the VU ground game is not effective, or VU is trying to come from behind, QB Robertson becomes the Villanova ground game.
Even when the running game is working, he still is the second leading rusher behind rb Monangai.
What is concerning is that you cannot key on his running because he is a good passer as well.

But man, our defense is shaky!

14-3.......Great job by the defense there of bowing up and not letting them get into the end zone!

Held them to a field goal and now we get the ball back and another chance to carve them up through the air!

Wow our run defense........ummmm.......needs work.

I've really noticed something......we are WAYYYY too small on the defensive line. We might honestly want to think about putting a 5th defensive lineman out there on the line.

We are getting blown off the ball by FCS teams......when we start playing FBS teams it could get VERY ugly.

This defense is absolutely our achilles heel right now. Not sure we beat a team like North Dakota State with the defense as it is currently constructed. We are getting absolutely gashed up front.

Wow.....the crowd is just pathetic right now. Guess it's hard to be excited watching this defense "participate" in football.

We need to fire Bill D. Sorry, this just isn't even remotely good enough. We are aiming to win a national championship THIS YEAR. This team, as it is currently constructed, with THIS defensive coordinator, doesn't stand a CHANCE of winning a national championship.

Give someone else a chance. Because what we have seen in CAA play so far hasn't even been REMOTELY good enough.
