When?
When will he go and stop our team from meltdowns? I'm so tired of him. A million a year for non-conference losses.

RE: When?
He better be gone after this year. I would love for our team to have a fresh start going into the Big East with a young energetic coach like Mario Cristobal.

RE: When?
He will never, EVER, EVER LEAVE!!! MUAHAHAHAHAHA!

Seriously though, I hope Stansbury starts getting in Dr. Hitt's ear about coaxing him into "retirement", since firing him seems like merely a pipe dream. I really appreciate him stabilizing and building our program, but now is the time to take that next step, and he is not the man to do it.

Kirby Smart, anyone?

RE: When?
I like the idea of Kirby Smart. He's a bright, young coach who I think could do some great things at a program like ours.

He is nearly a perfect fit for UCF, and we already of the Alabama connection (Drew Hughes). The two problems with Smart though is that 1) He will be expensive, and 2) He will leave as soon as the UGA job were to open up, or any other SEC school that comes a knockin' for that matter. He would probably be here for maybe two or three years, but in that time he could very well have taken us to a Big East championship or two.

RE: When?
I want Oregon State's head coach. We have the money. Let's snatch him up.

(By the way, I am on the record on this message board BEFORE Oregon State went 3-0 in suggesting the same guy) 03-idea

We won't get Cristobal. I know that BCS teams went for him last year, and he didn't budge. If they didn't get him, I don't think we'd be able to get him.

He didn't go to Rutgers because he didn't want to leave FL. I think if UCF offers him a similar deal to what Rutgers offered, then he'll leave FIU in a heartbeat.

If we have to choose someone from that list...

SONNY. EFFIN. DYKES. He wins games. He. Wins. Games.

RE: When?
It was really frustrating watching that game. 20 first downs to six and only leading by three. Next year will be painfull if GOL is there next year. As far as the coaching prospects, I do not know most of these coaches, but Stoops is a stretch. Why leave FSU where he can make a name for himself.

Actually about $1.6 million per year now for base salary plus many easily attainable bonuses.

I hadn't realized it was that high...but...

...Going over his contract...there's tons of ways he can get more and more. his base salary, when he signed the contract was for 225k with a minimum of 5% raise, but you go on and see that the UCFAA agrees to pay him 400k for "non-exclusive use of the Coach's services for radio and television appearances." This also have a 5% annual increase. Then the 375k payment for what looks like the UCFAA using him for endorsements, another 5% annual increase. A few relatively trivial perks like getting a Box for home games, a luxury car, travel expenses. Permission to hold and profit from football camps.

Bonuses:
50k for a 6 win season
50k for winning or tying for the Divisional Championship OR 100k for a conference win
50k for a non-BCS bowl appearance
50k for a non-BCS bowl win
100k for a BCS bowl
100k for a BCS bowl win
50k if we are ranked in the preseason top 25 of any two (BCS, USA Today, AP or ESPN.com(really?)) AND 50k if ranked after the 4th regular season game in any two.
100k for being ranked in the final week in any two and 100k for being in the top 10 in the final week
55k for exceeding the NCAA's minimum APR
55k for exceeding the NCAA's average graduation success rate
55k for if the following are met:
*No violations of the University's Code of Student Conduct or Code of Academic Integrity
*No arrests, indictments or convictions for criminal or suspected criminal conduct
*No neglectful or willful conduct which the Athletic Directory concludes violates the NCAA constitution or NCAA operating Bylaws especially those pertaining to ethical conduct
Unknown amount of compensation if no TV, Radio or endorsement sources of income come up
Attendance Bonus shall be calculated as follows (based on average game turnstile attendance):
*25k for 25000 average and
*25k for average of 30000 and
*25k for average of 35000 and
*25k for average of 40000 and
*25k for average of 45000
15k for being named CUSA coach of the year, by any "Nationally recognized Media outlet"
50k for for being named national coach of the year, by any "Nationally recognized Media outlet"

Compensation cap is 500k

Just pulled his contract, and started typing. That's...a lot of money and some of it is for doing nothing.

RE: When?
Yes, his base salary paid by UCF (the actual "salary", TV+radio appearances, and speaking+endorsement deal) is now $1.275 million per year with the 5% yearly increases he has built in to the contract. And, as you said, he can make up to $500,000 in additional bonus money. So his total compensation package could reach $1.775 million this year.

That's a lot of money for a losing record, non conference wins, zero continuity, and blaming kids.

I'm the closest I've ever been to rooting for UCF to lose so that the program can move forward. It's really tough to hope the Knights lose, but we're trapped and some conference wins are not going to help us.

Same Cristobal that just lost to Louisiana-Lafayette by almost 30 pts...and currently sits with a 1-4 record...only win was an OT win at home vs Akron.

That Cristobal?

I'm convinced now by the people on this board that Cristobal is probably not the guy for the job here. Any one of the others I mentioned would still be great though.

RE: When?
The single best thing that can happen is for GOL to resign. With everything else going on right now, we can't afford to fire him, by the time we have the money to do so, it'll be near the end of his contract. I really hope that the theory that he agreed to resign at the end of the season, if Dr. Hitt agreed to appeal the bowl ban. I don't think that it was the case, but I do hope it was.

RE: When?
How would you guys feel about Gene Chizik? I know it's a stretch, but if Auburn continues on the path they are on, he will be out at the end of this year or sometime next year. He coached here briefly about 12 years ago, so maybe we could pick him up. He's in the top 10 in the coaches hot seat rankings. http://coacheshotseat.com/CoachesHotSeatRanking.htm
