RE: I got my Obamaphone!!!
Quote:You, like a good lapdog for media distortions and lies, probably believe that Romney hates poor people. After all, that's what the dem propaganda is telling you.

Where have I stated that? Stop projecting and put up evidence, because that's how debate works.

Quote:Romney was talking about government dependence, something that Obama has been creating. I don't believe that the words he said to his own donors encapsulate all that he knows or believes on this subject.

That's nice that you think that, I don't. I tend to see the guy speaking at a closed to the public, $50k a plate dinner as the guy speaking truthfully about his motives and opinions. If Obama was in the same situation, I would feel the same way. It's so damning because it was so private.

Quote:Had he said that many of those dependent on government are not there because they want to be there, but that circumstances like losing a job have put them in that situation and that they don't want to be in that situation, would that satisfy you a bit more? That is what I meant by articulating ideas and issues poorly, even if he was speaking to those who support him.

And had he said something totally different, his meaning would have been totally different. Your argument here is circular, and f*cking awful. "HAD HE SAID SOMETHING DIFFERENT" - how is that a legitimate defense to what he actually said? Seriously, what lunacy is that? "WELL IF HITLER HADN'T KILLED ALL THE JEWS AND STARTED WWII, THEN HE WOULDN'T BE A BAD GUY" says nobody ever, because he did.

Quote:You, the guy that pretends not to be a liberal, have swallowed whole the lies you're being fed - the characterization of him as not caring about those people. About him "belittling" them. Sorry, but we, as a country have a growing government dependency problem - but one side of the aisle DOES NOT SEE THIS AS A PROBLEM. To them, it is a feature, not a bug. This is their agenda - dependency = votes. Romney knows this and said to his donors that he would be wasting his time trying to convince that group that his way is better for the country. They will vote for their own benefits.

As Romney supporters will vote for their own personal benefits, like a reduced tax rate. It's called politics, and you should try living on minimum wage for awhile if you think that simply not paying Income Tax is at all indicative of being dependent on the government, and worth being belittled for it. You're putting words into Romneys mouth, he didn't exclude those people earning under that amount, he lumped them together and acted as if they paid nothing into the system, which ignores literally dozens of other taxes those citizens pay every day.

You want to know what really pissed me off about his statement, I am part of that 47% currently because I chose to come back to school to get into a career that we need in this country, and one that could do some real good in the world, and he's going to belittle me because I don't currently pay income tax while earning a 4.0 in upper level science courses and working 30+ hours a week? Yeah, I sure am a f*cking charity case, government dependent, irresponsible little leech. Glad he feels as though he should use me to rile up the donors at a $50k a plate dinner.

Quote:Are you denying that there are not millions of people like this woman with her entitled attitude?

I would like to see where you got those numbers at, because those of us who understand the difference between valid quantitative data and youtube videos, understand the significance of the former and the utter irrelevance of the latter.

Quote:As for your childish idea about raising the minimum wage, think about this for a moment. How about we raise the minimum wage to $100/hr.?

What would the effect be on businesses and on the economy?

Now, knock a zero off the end of that and the effect would be the same, only the order of magnitude would be a bit less.

No, it wouldn't. You think that companies move their businesses to china because of labor costs? That is far from the biggest factor, those being the fluidity of their labor pool and the proximity of their parts manufacturers. Raising the minimum wage would not effect the economy nearly the way you think it would. Inflation affects the entirety of wealth, and even earning a liveable wage, low-income workers have such a small amount of that overall wealth that it would have a fairly small effect on the overall inflation rate. But I know math can be tough sometimes.
