What happens to the outdoor GLI if the Winter Classic is cancelled? Does it simply just move back into JLA? Is JLA available those nights?

No specific info.....BUT each outdoor venue is a separate entity so to speak. I believe the GLI games....along with a whole host of other scheduled events...will continue outside at Comerica Park...even if idiot Bettman continues to screw up the NHL negotiations. Oops! All those supporting Bettman and the owners can now yell at me!!!!

GLI is already selling tickets (if I remember right) for Comerica park. No way that they can cancel that since it isn't sanctioned by the NHL. They can't move it either because then you'd have mass confusion on who sits where and blah blah blah.

Pearson (MTU head coach) told one of their writers "off the record" (why did it become knowledge then) that it would likely revert to JLA because the NHL is paying to create the rink at Comerica.

That will make the event a giant disaster, because we all know that Butthead Gary will wait until December 22nd or so to actually cancel his 110k ticket money maker event.

That would be a ticketing NIGHTMARE

I wish they would move it back to the Joe. I am not interested in freezing outside to get a poor view of the game. I think attendance will be poor outside. Besides, we are great at the Joe.

To be fair, if it was at the Joe, we weren't going to be invited.

from what i was told, if it was at the Joe this year, it was going to be St Cloud State this year and us next year.

Someone at the Joe must have forced that issue for attendance either way then. They've had zero interest in us since 1986.

Although seeing the same teams every four years or so was tiring, I respect Olympia (and MTU) for holding firm to its commitment to having top 10 teams come in every year. I only wish instead of the random Harvard or Providence (wtf?), they'd throw in the LSSU, Ferris, Northern or even WMU as they did in the past, pre 2000. Now that WMU is much better (and would draw much better), there's no reason for them to ignore us. You can't tell me even Boston U would outdraw WMU at JLA.

Doens't make financial sense anymore to ignore WMU.

Bad enough to change the venue, but changing the date is crap.

This was according to Bucci only, and other writers have downright refuted his statement. I feel like he just heard from some random exec that it was a rumor and posted it on twitter. That being said, cancelling of teh WC would be game over on this season.

If they do it before November 1, IIRC, they don't owe Michigan anything for rental. Afterwards, there's a payment whether they have the game or not. That's probably what we're looking at.

So what happens to my WMU tickets for those two games?

The game gets moved to JLA and a ticketing nightmare ensues

I'd rather see it at JLA anyway....outdoor games are played out, especially at baseball fields.
