And the only season they didn't flame out of the NCAA Tournament was vacated thanks to the dirtiest coach in America. Kinda ruins your whole argument though doesn't it?

You can thank Kragthorpe for that. He's the only coach in the world who could take a 17 starters from a team that went 12-1 and won the Orange Bowl and destroy it from the inside out in just one season. And even he was able to beat Memphis. Where's Houston now? I can't seem to find them in any of the polls you mentioned. And since we're bringing up history what was the only CUSA team to go undefeated in conference play, win 11 games, beat a top 10 team in their bowl game, and finish ranked #6? I'll give you one guess.

I actually agree with you for the most part except these points. Memphis likely would have won C-USA every year from 2006-09 if the BE defectors were still in the league and making the Sweet 16 every year (three Elite 8 penetrations as well) is hardly flaming out. There are still BCS level programs that haven't advanced that far or any further.

As for UH, you can't say UL suffered with a bad coaching hire and not note what has taken place with Levine. The jury is still out as we're only three games in but the verdict doesn't appear to be in his favor so far. And FTR, UH had a C-USA record 13 wins, granted by playing two extra games than 2004 Louisville.

Ii agree Houston really suffer from bad coaches and AD for a numeber of years as did Memphis. It hasd to rebuild to look what the dumb@ss Kraghrope did us in just three years.

Well, we did rebuild from Dana Helton and Clyde McBrooks (as we call those eras of UH football and basketball coaching), we're just hoping we don't slip back into that trance just in time to go to the nBE.

We still bring in more money in basketball than most programs, especially impressive considering the conference we played in, even though our coach has not beaten a ranked team yet. We still bring in a top 20 program, and by the time we join will have had a coach make the big dance 3 out of his first 4 years after taking over a decimated progam, caused by his predecessor. We know what we are in football and have shown we have potential, while still averaging 33k against teams that don't usually appeal to fans and after being horrible for 4 years.

The BS just get worse and worse. The main thing is for us to improve the conference and get it where it needs to go. As for football, none of the other conferences (ACC,Big 10,Big 12,PAC 12) can compete with the SEC in football, so I don't what's the big deal. Being a Memphis fan, we are stuck in SEC land along with Louisville trying to improve ourselves.
As for basketball, the Big East has the most competitive teams, whereas the others may have 2 -4 decent teams. The Big East has always had the best basketball, and I can remember when the Big East sent Gtown, Villanova, and St. Johns along with Memphis to the final 4, where Villanova upset Gtown and us to win the National Championship. We were the only team to beat a Big East team and it Boston College during the NCAA tournament. I rarely even watch the other conference games, as to me it don't really mean nothing. Support what you have, and what you belong too.
