According to the NCAA in order to have a championship game you have to play everyone in your own division. I do not believe this idea would work.

That is correct. The above schedule would not comply with the NCAA rule that allows a championship game to be held.

OK, I'll take a shot at it. 16 team conferences, I've always thought, are just ridiculous. However, Kruciff's premise was, IF THE 16 TEAM EXPANSION OCCURRED, how do the divisions stack up? (He did not ask us how much we liked it)

If we have a 16-team league, the only sensible way would be to play an unprecedented 10-game schedule. So, I would designate the "red" and "blue" divisions, and do the obvious crossovers on a geographical basis:

Each group of four plays each other once. That gives us nine games. The problem here is that Air Force still needs its game with Navy. So, AFA is afforded a third crossover game, with Navy. The other seven, from each division rotate on a bi-yearly basis.

Hard to do this crap with 16 teams.

Sixteen teams basically forces you into a 9-game conference schedule. Otherwise, you'd rarely see the teams in the other division, and you still won't see them much. I still think a zipper works best. You could set up the divisions like Post #25, and just have one permanent crossover, as they are shown, and one rotating team, which would take 14 years to have a home and home with every conference team. Heck, I doubt the conference would stay the same that long, lol.

Agreed. I doubt we ever even see Navy.
