- - UL brought more fans than VPI by a wide margin. I was impressed at their enthusiasm and their classiness. They cheered after the national anthem, they cheered when an injured WVU player walked off the field, they cheered Don Nehlan when he was introduced in honor of his induction to the hall of fame, etc. I got them impression they were very classy, very enthusiastic, and very dedicated. I talked to several, all of whom were very nice and complimenatary of the atmosphere. One person told me it wasn't anything like they had experienced ever in CUSA.

- - Anybody who thinks the Big East is in trouble should have been in the stands today. College Football doesn't get any better from an atmosphere standpoint. This is a classic rivalry that started today, and will be a huge game every season.

- - Brian Brohm and Bush are gutsy, big time players. I was shell-shocked at the end of the first half. But I kept thinking, the way UL dominated, we are lucky its' only 17-0, and that could come back to haunt them (see Miami last year.) I thought the key was that we forced UL to go on long drives rather than score on the big plays, that kept the score down even though UL dominated. That allowed us enough room to come back, and it still took a miracle.

- - the End of the game reminded me of the WVU/Wake Forest game in the NCAA's this past year. Unbelievably exciting.

- - Once we tied it I felt like we were going to win it. UL's defense seemed worn down. And yet it still came down to one play, that final 2-point conversion.

- - I totally saw the fake punt coming, after they ran for it on 3rd and 8. I knew then it was 2 down territory. We should have been prepared for it.

- - This game is a lesson to never give up!!

Kudos to everyone involved, a classic game, and a boost to the BE. Exciting football, a championship atmosphere, 2 good teams, great plays, what more could you want on a Saturday afternoon in October? I'm so wrung out.... what an incredible day.

Now it is time for UofL and WVU to run the table if we can and have 2 out of these 3 in UConn, USF or Rutgers to step up and be a solid 8-3/7-4.

Hopefully for the long term success of the Big East these are the Final Records of the league.

WVU 10-1/7-0
UofL 9-2/5-2
Rutgers 8-3/5-2
UConn 7-4/4-3
USF 6-5/4-3
Pitt 5-6/3-4
followed by UC and SU.

That is honestly, the first time I have EVER heard a UL fan called "classy".

That said, the Cards looked like men among boys.
