the criminals of East Lansing, 20-3! Yeah, that pro-set offense sure worked for Sparty! And, what? It was a S-P-R-E-A-D offense that undressed them? And just where was that "vaunted" defense of the criminals?! In jail, apparently.

Notre Dame did what we tried to do: loaded up on the run and dared MSU to beat them passing. It was actually working for us, somewhat, until the offense kept putting the D in bad spots. IMHO, the biggest difference was that ND's R-Fr QB overcame a rough start and played like a veteran late in the game. Something our 5thyr Sr QB can't manage, evidently.
Also, ND, wasn't in a pure spread. They made liberal use of a TE and ran the ball with the RB more than we did under Kelly at CMU. The man certainly knows when and how to adapt his offense.
In any case, after I saw the MSU/Boise game, I questioned whether or not MSU was a top 10 team. Defense, maybe. Team, not so much. That passing game has a ways to go. Although I think Maxwell is improving game to game. Unlike some QBs I could name!
