-- there is a lot of truth in this

Jackson

Quote:Big for Big East

This is only the biggest game in the history of a renovated conference. ABC will televise the game regionally. With Pittsburgh already proving to be a bust, this is the only Big East game featuring two teams with national juice.

A good and memorable showing, regardless of the winner, would help the league's image. A blowout or a poorly played contest would decrease its reputation. And the Big East doesn't have much decreasing left.

"It should be a good football game," Petrino said. "I'm looking forward to starting a rivalry."

The Big East needs a Louisville-West Virginia rivalry like tooth needs paste. Like Tiger Woods needs a good barber. Like Lindsay Lohan needs a Snickers.

The conference's two best programs have to uplift the league. In the future, both need to take the next step and contend for national titles. And when they get together, they have to play the kind of competitive games you'd expect from a classic matchup of exotic defense versus prolific offense.

Good read. I cannot wait for this game. This is our first ABC game since 1997 when we played Penn State. Louisville-West Virginia is going to be a great rivalry!
