That's probably an indicator of how little control he has. The same is probably true in Libya.

If a sitting government doesn't have sufficient authority to protect foreign embassies, then maybe we shouldn't be dealing with these people.

So who is indoctrinating these people? Those are the ones we should target first and do so very publically.

I liked the way the Israelis would tear down the house of a terrorist which would make his entire family pay for his acts. We need something like that only a little more aggressive - like the whole family just has to disappear. If word got out that, if you committed a terrorist act, your entire family would be wiped out you just might think twice.

We have an Amphibious Carrier Group with Osprey's on board off the Egyptian Coast that can land inside the Embassy Compound and get people out if things go to Hell.

I'm sure. My point though was that the onus is on the host country to protect its embassies, and if its sitting government can't do that small thing, then why deal with them at all?

In Egypt? As a key leader in the Muslim Brotherhood? He had enough power to remove key military leaders. I think he's got more than enough power to do what he wants. Morsi's comments that the protesters should be allowed to express themselves tells you that it's an issue of will, not power.

Wait, Bin Ladens? That can't be true. Has to be a misprint also. Mach said ALL of this was due to the Iraq invasion, a country we're no longer in and that happened in 2003.

That assumes that
A) we get permission to fly over in time
B) we can protect them long enough to get there

I don't know what the capacity of an Osprey is, but it might take many of them (visualizing fall of Saigon)

We should develop some kind of escape rocket or at the very least, a hardened bunker with a hook on top. The diplomats all huddle into the bunker, and the Osprey or whatever flies over, hooks on and flies away. I kid of course, but if we can imagine a life raft for the space shuttle.....
