Pub for ULM and SBC
Amazing all of the pub we are getting off this win. All over the Tim Brando show. Front of ESPN.com and USATODAY.com. Just watched Kolton on CFBlive.com on ESPNU. Thos is great for ULM and the conference. Now I hope we can beat Auburn or at least play well enough to validate the win last week.

RE: Pub for ULM and SBC
Interesting tidbit: Cleveland's AP voter put ULM as #13, higher than Ohio State, Texas, Notre Dame, and Oklahoma. The next highest AP voter had ULM at #21. There were a total of 7 AP voters who voted for ULM, but the Warhawks got 23 points anyway.

The Capital-Journal's blog devoted to Kansas, Kansas State and the Big 12, with sports editor Tim Bisel, columnist Kevin Haskin, and beat reporters Austin Meek and Ken Corbitt.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Ballot breakdown: The case for ULM

Here’s how I voted in this week’s Associated Press Top 25 poll (actual AP ranking in parentheses).

1. Alabama (1)
2. Southern Cal (2)
3. LSU (3)
4. Oregon (4)
5. Georgia (7)
6. Oklahoma (5)
7. South Carolina (8)
8. West Virginia (9)
9. Florida State (5)
10. Michigan State (10)
11. Kansas State (15)
12. Michigan (17)
13. Ohio State (12)
14. Clemson (11)
15. Virginia Tech (13)
16. Texas (14)
17. TCU (16)
18. UCLA (22)
19. Notre Dame (20)
20. Oregon State (NR)
21. Stanford (21)
22. Boise State (NR)
23. Northwestern (NR)
24. Iowa State (NR)
25. Louisiana Monroe (NR)

Louisiana Monroe was an interesting case. If the Warhawks played in a major conference, they almost certainly would be ranked in the top 10 after upsetting Arkansas on the road. There is plenty of empirical evidence that says Sun Belt teams aren’t as good as SEC teams, so I’m not saying ULM deserves equal treatment, necessarily. I do think it’s pretty silly that 17 people ranked Arkansas but not Louisiana Monroe, given that Louisiana Monroe beat Arkansas, in Arkansas, a few hours before we all filed our ballots. These people might claim that Arkansas would beat Louisiana Monroe nine times out of 10, and that might be true, but those nine wins occurred in some parallel universe where the British also won the American Revolution. Here in our universe, Louisiana Monroe won the game and should be ranked higher.

ULM definitly needs to win at Auburn to validate the ArKansas win. The conference needs to win more games against the BCS conferences to validate it as a whole.

One win is great, but we need more.

Yes indeed.

ULM is in PRIME position with this win over the Hogs.

If they can beat Auburn, they SHOULD be ranked and that will be a first.

Who would of thunk after the 1st week stinkers (MTSU loss, FIU loss, and FAU crappy win) that week 2 would of made such a huge turnaround.

Now in the immortal words of RU PAUL....

DONT **** IT UP!

A WKU win over UK or a Louisiana win over Oklahoma State would do wonders for the SBC. We've had a handful of big BCS wins over the years, but getting a high profile win in back to back weeks would be a first, if I'm not mistaken. That would be huge, especially if it's a different team than ULM, as it would give the conference more pub as a whole.

How many people expected all the talk about "Best Sun Belt Team" this early in the season to be ULM?

Isn't this awesome? Unexpected results are awesome!

Don't forget Troy plays MSU at home too, I know it will be a long shot but anything can happen. Could be an amazing week for the SBC.

Buddy, MSU is no great shakes. The Belt has taken real strides this year.. You guys are talented.. You should go into this game expecting to win it.

RE: Pub for ULM and SBC
Here is what scares me about this week.

ULM at Auburn: Auburn is 0-2. They have tons of talent and are desperate for a win. We won't sneak up on them. If we stay focused and Auburn sticks with Frasier, then we have a shot.

ULL at OK St: Again, a BCS team with lots of talent (not as much as last year). Coming off a loss and probably pissed.

ASU at Nebraska: Isn't Martinez in his 8th season at Nebraska? Not the Nebraska of your father but still tons of talent. Also coming off a loss and probably pissed. Big 10/11/12 wide open and it doesn't look like anyone wants to win it.

I personally like WKU to have a chance at Kentucky. Miss St is fast and physical.

After our win, I guarantee you every coach who plays one of us "little sisters of the poor" is putting a boot up players' butts and telling them what can happen.

Across the board, the SBC has gotten so much better. Yes, we are suffering from our perceived lack of talent but there are ball players all across this conference and each team is building a depth of talent that is starting to show. That has been the problem (IMO) for all of the SBC but whether it is finding the diamond in the rough, the transfer a bigger school, or winning the occasional recruiting battle with a bigger school, we all are getting the depth needed to compete.

Don't worry. Tech still won't play us because they are too elite!! 04-cheers

If you guys beat K State, that would be hugh. Snyder is probably one of the best coaches around and K State is playing great football. In the immortal words of Bobby Boucher, "you can do it"

Sorry, but IMO you guys won't beat K-State. Being realistic, they have probably the best active coach in college football and their offense is virtually unstoppable... You might score 14 points, but you will have your work cut out in not letting them score 49 or more.
