Couple of basketball tidbits
1). Both Still and Lee are eligible. We have been working on that assumption (esp. Lee being cleared by the NCAA clearinghouse). No need to worry.
2). Strickland is on scholarship this year. He is I believe an academic senior so he gets his 3rd athletic year (2 at EMU) and an opportunity to gain his EMU degree this year. I have long felt he deserved a scholarship.
3). Man, Still is one tall dude. He is TALL. Says 6' 10". (6' 10" is sweet in the MAC).

RE: Couple of basketball tidbits
According to the roster:
Bryant: 6'8
Harris: 6'9
Balkema: 6'10
Still: 6'10
Riley: 7'0
Haven't compared it to the other teams, but I would be shocked if we didn't have the tallest front court in the MAC. Hell, we may have the tallest in the state.

This might be taller than the Syracuse front line.

RE: Couple of basketball tidbits
Dennis, I think we can afford to play small if need be. If Riley or Harris gets in foul trouble, you can bump Bryant to PF, Harrison to SF. That's how deep we are all around. If Riley or Harris fouled out last year, we were screwed. This year, we can afford to stay aggressive, with guys like Still and Bryant providing boosts.
I'm more concerned with who picks up the scoring slack. Some of the posters on here have raved about Harrison in practices. It would be nice if he could be a "go-to" guy. I'm not nearly as worried about it as last year, for I think Lee, Bryant, Harrison, and Still all bring something offensively to the table, but it is a bit of a mystery who we'll look at to get the big buckets.

RE: Couple of basketball tidbits
For Dennis:
As I was leaving and going through the Convo parking lot I saw Benny White w. a recruit.
No details other than he looked to be say 6' 2" and maybe 170.
That's all I know. I didn't interrupt other than to say hi to Benny. They were going to the Convo to meet Murphy.

WMU goes:
Whittington at 6'10"
Paul at 6'8"
Hutcheson at 6'7" (wing player that doesn't venture down low)
One or two bench players go 6'7"...but that's about it.
Should be an advantage for EMU...especially playing CMU. I believe their tallest player is Simons at 6'6"...and he's really a wing.
Not sure if they've picked up anyone else beyond him.

Probably either Bishop Robinson or Highsmith.

Darius Paul is a 6'8" PF. Due to our lack of size, he will probably be asked to play C as well.

From Warren Township in Illinois.
Teamed with Toledo frosh Nathan Boothe in high school.
Can shoot from the outside...knock on him is his effort and motor. Older brother Brandon plays at Illinois.
Darius will probably start for us at the 4...or if we choose to go small...he will be our 6th man this year.

No. BTW, Dumars is still back at UofM. Apparently never transferred to EMU. I assume he was only a guest student during the Summer.

Definitely wasn't Highsmith. He was at NIU over the weekend. I think he visited Northwestern too. Not sure on that though.
Bishop is a slight enigma to me at this point.

Sorry, but it was an uneducated guess. Lol.
The kid isn't a 2013 recruit.
