Bingo! Expediency is key. Just lollygagging until everything is 100% picture perfect to re-start football is an excessively bad plan. With a course of non-action by daydreamers, we'll never see ETSU football again in any of our lifetimes.

But wouldn't it be great to hold-off on reinstating football until we have a brand new facility built? Sure, it's just as great as holding-off on one's working career until they first by a mansion to live in.

Yes as soon as possible. We can work on improving, upgrading, raising money and other ways of getting involved with the school. Impossible to support something that is not even there. Start and then move!

Sixties, I think you've made things perfectly clear. You want a mediocre football program with a crappy stadium. Actually, you agree w/ Goldfinger on the mediocre program part of that argument.

Many of the rest of us want success. You act like building a stadium is undo-able, but that kind of attitude if what got us here in the first place, is it not?

I think what everyone is saying is "let's get on with it!". The sooner we have somehthing the sooner we can start the improvements. Gotta have something to improve first!

RE: Is It Possible?
If you can raise the money for a pharmacy school AND a soccer stadium, are you telling me here in the south, where football is king, you can't raise the money for the football stadium? I guess you have to learn how to spell existent first....

I know, disrespectful.

But actually, we don't differ that much. We both want football back, you just want to go back to the old stadium, and I think a new stadium is in order and possible. You're ok with the status quo that got the football program killed, I'm not, and believe strong support is possible, and hell, even winning conference championships in a new stadium in the SoCon, and beyond. I'm a ****-eyed crazy hopeful optimist. Completely nuts. One of those hope & change crazies.

I just don't think they can go off half cocked and just start it without a plan in place for a foundation and plan. ETSU has done that for years which is how we got where we are today.

RE: Is It Possible?
The very minimum time frame to add football back if the decision was made today would be two years. More realistic would be 3 or 4. How is it not possible to build a facility in that time? You guys keep saying right now, but as you like to point out the programs that have added football recently, show me one that didn't take a minimum of three years from the announcement of the addition of football to the time they played a game.

ETSU hires the same construction company that's in charge of the baseball facility.

Speaking of showing the money, how much of the $81 million "Pathway to Excellence" capital campaign for athletics has Dave Mullins and staff raised since its announcement almost immediately after football was dropped?

All of it! They've used $40 million to tear down the historic ETSU barn and will use the other $41 million to build the tennis courts. 10-to-1 that the tennis center will be completely finished before the baseball stadium (priorities).
