Saturday Pre-game
Is anyone else heading over to Old Town for the pre-game on Saturday? I'm going with a handful of buddies and was wondering if the Taphouse was still there. Been a while.

The Taphouse is still there. This weekend is also Hampton Bay Days, giving a veritable bounty of options for pregame festivities.

I forgot, it is Bay Days. Downtown will be packed with fesivities and about 200,000 people and the fireworks should be shortly after the game and they are good. I usually park free in the neighborhood in the vicinity of Victoria Blvd and Bridge Street for this event. If you choose to park there, the walk will be closer to a mile, but on the other hand, you will be able to get out of town after the fireworks without dealing with the gridlock (take Victoria to Powhatan and get on 664 at Powhatan).

How far is the walk from campus to Old Town? I was thinking of parking on campus in the afternoon and just walking over that little pedestrian bridge.

Not far, a half mile. If you have a toddler, bring a stroller, otherwise enjoy the walk weather permitting. I would heed my above suggestion in interest of being able to get out of town. It will take you an hour+ to get to 64 from HU's campus after the fireworks. You are better off parking on the other side of downtown (Bridge Street/Victoria) and you can escape the madness via Powhatan/664.

Where is the best place to park? Their website says it is $10 or $5 in a different lot.

The $10 lot is right by the Convocation Center and close to the stadium gate. The $5 lot is a bit further out.
