Of all the accomplishments of his first season as the head coach at North Texas, perhaps the one closest to Dan McCarney’s heart is re-establishing an aura and an advantage when it comes to home games.

UNT attracted one of the largest crowds in school history for the first game at Apogee Stadium and won four of its six home games on the year.

There might not be a better time for the Mean Green to get a chance to build on that upward swing than Saturday, when it opens its home schedule with a game against Texas Southern.
