4 Receptions for 41 Yards
Thats what our wide receivers stats were for the Iowa game. 3 Rec for 39 yrds for Moore(outstanding catch too). 1 rec for 2 yrds for TLL. No catches for anyone else. I know that we had a Vanilla offense but I guess Doeren could not figure out a way to utilize your two best offensive threats in Moore and Ashford. Hell, Ashford fair caught a ball and then started to run probably out of frustration. I know our offense will be different against Tennesse Martin(I hope). But our game plan took our two best offensive players out of the game.

We had a very conservative vanilla game plan for Wisconsin last year, too.

RE: 4 Receptions for 41 Yards
We are in store for a disappointing season if we can't pass. The passing stats were pathetic. If Lynch has to run every other play, he probably will get hurt. I don't understand the play calling. I am truly sorry about the OC's medical condition, but obviously he was too conservative. The defense should be good, and keep us in a lot of games. Lynch is not the answer. How many times is he going to break a 75 yard run for a TD? I don't know anything about McIntosh, but maybe we should rotate QBs if he can pass.

On the Iowa board they were talking about the sod coming up and bad traction when making cuts. If that's true it would make it harder for WRs on both sides. I'll have to watch the game again. I'm not concerned yet.

It's Soldier Field. The turf is always crap. Yes, sod was coming up everywhere. Wedel slipped on a kickoff. An Iowa returner slipped on a punt return or he might have been gone. The field is a joke, and it's very high rent for us to play there. Oh, and the PA system works intermittently. It's the smallest, ugliest and worst NFL stadium in the country. It's par for the course though for the state of Illinois and city of Chicago.

I had not realized that it was quite that bad. I am still hoping that the wind had something to do with it, the game plan had something to do with it, playing Iowa had something to do with it and knocking the rust off had something to do with it.

I am not giving up on the season or on Lynch or on our passing game just yet. We have a great wide receiving core and I hope that we have a QB that can get them the ball and an O line that can give Lynch the time that he needs. We were so close to winning the game and if we had found a way to win it we would all be praising the game plan and game management.

I actually came away with great hopes for the season.

I think the offense will get better and better. Lynch was starting his first game. At times his nerves showed. He will get rid of those butterflies and be more than just fine.

RE: 4 Receptions for 41 Yards
I listened to Dave Doeren's weekly press conference on "All Access". He pointed out that there were four drops and that the passing stats would have looked a lot better without them.

Time will tell but if the O progresses this year the way that the D did last season, it could be a very good year.

Harnish had a rough day against Wisc. last year The game plan for that game was also quite conservative. I think there is a bit of an overreaction here. I think Lynch will improve game by game and be fine. McIntosh, by most accounts, is not ready yet.
