TMD's Week 1 Power Rankings
After a great defensive showing against Iowa, NIU earned the No. 3 spot in our power rankings. Ohio got top billing and then came Toledo at No. 2.

This looks to be a great defensive team in DeKalb!

RE: TMD's Week 1 Power Rankings
I think that the MAC can play with alot of teams but Special teams and not taking advantage early hurt them.
Buffalo scores then gives up a touchdown on the kickoff.
Miami should have scored a couple touchdowns early against OSU.
Bowling Green has a ten yard punt in their own territory.
NIU punts to the their own 34 from the goal line and gives up 10 more on the return.

I am not saying we would have won these games but the MAC is close.

You're right. They should be at #1. That's the directive from the MAC office.

No matter what the sport, the road goes through Toledo per the MAC office.

So the Arizona team that put up over 600 yards of O that was ranked by pre-snap as lower than 5 MAC teams gives Toledo a #2 because of an away OT loss when NIU's loss to Iowa (only 1 MAC team was ranked higher) is viewed as not as good because our O has some growing to do?

What's worse, a defense that gives up 600 yards or an offense that only gains 200? Rankings are nice to compare two teams who won't play each other. But thankfully NIU and Toledo will settle things on the field.

Toledo got out gained by nearly 300 yards against a BAD Arizona team.

The fabulous duo of Owens/Dantin were 21/47 for 197 yards too.

And Toledo should win when they are out gained by almost 300 yards?

RE: TMD's Week 1 Power Rankings
The ONLY power ranking that matters is the one that comes at the end of the season. Seriously, why waste energy worrying about where NIU is ranked relative to Toledo at this stage of the season. Who gives a crap. The satisfaction and the bragging rights and whatever else wets your whistle comes at the END of the journey.

*gasp*

I agree with you.

I really don't understand why people around here get hung up on rankings. They are so subjective and everyone has biases. Whatever. Rankings are for the birds.

Let them rank Toledo ahead of us. I think it has been that way the past few seasons to start.

Owens went out with an ankle injury after passing for 136 yds and 1 TD in about 13 minutes of playing time.

TMDs rankings don't matter. Rockets have to come thru DeKalb this year.

According to Massey, if everything goes the way it is "supposed to", the Huskies should win the remainder of their scheduled games. Of course, winning eleven in a row is no small feat, even when you are favored, and one upset could would bring down the remaining odds.

In short, if the Huskies lose again before the MCC, it will be an upset.
