In a 21-3 victory, the Hoya defense came alive and earned their first victory of the season, 21-3! Hoyas improve their record against Fairfield with this win.

I tried to find a local article for you, but there was nothing on-line.

Good win. I gather that Fairfield was a pretty respectable team last year, although I don't know much about them this season. Who's up next for you guys?

We have to travel down to that dumpy city of miami to play Florida International...F.I. is a decent team, but I'm away when the game starts, so I'll have to read about it rather then listen to it.

When UConn goes to Miami in 2 weeks, we have to play [gulp] Miami. We have a bye week after that, thank goodness. It will give our guys a chance to get out of the hospital before the next game.

I feel for you. Really.

We have to go through that same thing in basketball later on when we travel down to see the Cameron Crazies. I'm confident my terps can manhandle them, but Georgetown -- well, no.

Dook? You do know they are the team most likely to raise the blood pressure of a UConn (men's) hoops fan, right? Die hard Huskymaniacs don't see the Boogie Man in their nightmares, they see Christian Laettener. UConn made a lot of friends in 1999 when they beat Duke for the NC, especially fans from Kentucky and most of the ACC.

You guys got us this year, if I remember correctly. (I, myself, am more of a women's team fan, althought I root for any team with the UConn logo.) You fans were very classy though and there's no hard feelings between UConn & Maryland fans.

I respect UConn Men's greatly since Steve Blake basically won the game for us.

Women's basketball has been amazing all these years -- I'm wondering if one of the other teams that were in the final four this year will step up and take thier place?

Supposedly, Duke is the team to beat this year. Duke women, that is. They've got several outstanding recruiting classes and lots of experience.

You know that the UConn mens fans don't like Duke and there are a number of fans that also root for the UConn women, so there's some carryover. Plus, the Duke womens coach outright dissed our best player, saying that her player was way better. Said it to the media, too. I myself don't mind this stuff, although I think it was ill-advised to announce it to the press, but it made for a feeding frenzy on the UConn board.

Maryland seems to have made a commitment to their womens hoops team. They hired AP coach of the year Brenda Frese and Frese has been aggressively recruiting. I really hope you guys do well.
