Jesus, check out the comments. Big East getting no respect. ESPN probably employs a team of nerds to make negative comments about their favorite conference.

Or Notre Dame...lol. I'm sure the "dude" has the real scoop. It's BYU. It's always been BYU.

true that. It's comical to think that there are haters with nothing better to do than reply to that article when there is college football being played for the first time this season.

For 2015, BYU currently has 5 opponents on their schedule...1 of which is a future Big East school (Boise).
This means there's room on their schedule for 8 Big East Conference games.
It appears they could easily enter the conference in 2015 with Navy.

BYU is THE logical choice to be at the top of the Big East wish list. Crowds for decades have been above all but the most elite "AQ" programs, some degree of presence in all markets. Football only solves the no Sunday issue and Big East members less likely to complain about the mission program.

It will take a nice NBC deal $$$ for BYU to give up indy. Also, the BE would have to get a BCS type bowl to get them to join.

If those 2 things happen I could see BYU doing it.

Temple is bad enough, please not Army. They can not get the level of athletes to compete at that level. AF would be solid. I still think Fresno is a good 3rd choice.

Temple!??? The Owls have been bowl eligible 3 straight years, and were a runaway bowl winner this past year.

Temple also has a staff that won a national championship at their last stop. Steve Addazio is rising name in the coaching profession (his name was bounced around for the Rutgers job).

They also bring a HUGE market presence in a state that needed to replant the Big East flag.

The Temple program was a no-brainer if there was one. Their basketball program has ensured the Big East's position as the dominant basketball conference. The Owls beat Duke last year.

"We're not talking about raiding anybody" and the potential candidates are "independents" (plural).

Sounds like AFA still isn't interested, BYU is the prime target and Army is now the fallback. Aresco negotiated CBSSN's TV deals with Army and Navy and the recent 10-year extension to CBS's contract for the Army-Navy game. He understands the value that Army brings to the table.

Of course all this could change tomorrow.

I just don't see how a league with Navy, Army, Boise, SDSU, Houston, SMU, Memphis, Temple, and the remaining Big East schools is that wonderful of a football league. And I sure as hell don't see how that league gets a payout comparable to the ACC. But college sports is a bubble and maybe the Big East cashes in before the market crashes, we'll see.

The Big East needs BYU. Don't think they will get them.

Do you think when he said "independents" he meant (in addition to BYU) Idaho or New Mexico State? He sure didn't mean Notre Dame.

That leaves Army.

When he said "independents" I think he meant BYU and BYU only.

If you think Boise played the BE like a fiddle wait till BYU gives them their list if demands. Hard to negotiate with all your cards face up.
