I cancelled the booking and the hotel and the preschool late summer family vacation. There'll be five less RU fans at the dome when this game does get played. I'm taking the kids to Hershey instead.

And yet they'll still outnumber the Tulane fans at least 2-1.

The storm won't affect the crowd . . . nobody shows up to Tulane games anyway.

Hi-yo!

Yeah, I expected to see probably 5K RU fans travel for this one. I bought tickets through Tulane so I had sec 113 row 16 on he 40YL. They were way better and cheaper than the allotted tickets being sold through RU.

Fly into Baton Rouge or Houston and drive over. The stadium is great, the food on the town is great. I took the family to the Syracuse game at Tulane last year and everyone had a good time (no Bourbon Street - It was a family outing for us).

We had similar seats and they are great, my oldest stole the seat at about the 50YL, so I suffered with the seat at about the 46YL.

We had more Orange fans than Tulane did. Rutgers will, too.

I'm guessing I-10 is gonna be impassible for a while so I don't know what good flying in to either city will do as opposed to New Orleans.

Game on. As long as there was no damage to the Superdome and access to it, there was no reason to reschedule/cancel it. Hope to see a bunch of Rutgers fans at the game (they may be only team that brings fans).

Tulane doesn't really have any fans.

I was at the Syracuse game at Tulane last season. Tulane maybe had 3,000-5,000 at the game.

Syracuse brought as many or more fans. The Superdome was an empty cavern.

Most of Tulane's die hard fans are not local. I think most people in the region are meh on them a la DePaul in Chiacgo, except when they're good.

I was Tulane's best friend when I bought 200 tix for my tailgate group last year...$20 seats between the 45s 10 rows up from the field.

Great place to take in a game...highly recommend it.

RE: Rutgers at Tulane regarding Hurricane Isaac
Tulane gets more than competitive attendance when we field a competitive team (just like most schools out there).
That hasn't happened since Katrina.
It will change soon, hopefully real soon.

And I hope so. But like Rice and UAB, there needs to be an on-campus and/or smaller stadium that is more appropriate for you.

Tulane is a unique school in a unique city in a unique state with very unique struggles.

I hope that they are able to get the new on campus stadium built. I think it will be a good shot in the arm. I have always wanted them to do well. The Superdome is great. It just isn't a good fit for what Tulane needs right now.

Your on campus stadium will be huge for getting some school spirit...I hope we play you guys again. It is such a great roadie for fans from opposing teams.

Not really.
Superdome's not the problem. A series of really bad teams is. We've had a ton of teams with losing records over the years, but most not purely inept and non-competitive like the last 7 years. Scelfo's recruiting went down, but we didn't recruit much in the way of FBS talent the first 3 years after Katrina. We needed to push money into the program after K and we did in the last year, once the school settled down. Hopefully it's changing. REcruiting's looking a lot better.
The administration wants a stadium - it wouldn't be high on my priority list - but so be it. It's mostly fresh donors putting up the money for it (the Glazer family is the largest donor). You close the terrace in the Superdome and the capacity is 45K. 25-30K in there is fine.
Rice Stadium is a good stadium - they're putting a lot of money into fixing it too. UAB needs a stadium because Legion Field is just a bad stadium. They had a good plan for one - their BOA screwed them.
Rutgers will be a tough matchup for us tomorrow. Their strength as best I can tell is the DL and OL is probably our biggest weakness. But we'll have a lot more speed on the field than we did last year so that should help. We usually play BE teams pretty well, including Rutgers. We'll see.

College football games BACK on Tulane's campus in a brand new "right size" stadium (25,000) would really help Tulane's program.

Hope their stadium plan gets approved and that they can get games back on campus after being in the Dome for since 1975.
