I thought they switched conferences mainly because of travel expense. Wouldn't, geographically, Horizon be to them like the A-Sun, except on the North end of the map? Besides, they're too busy losing 0-1 to Lipscomb in men's soccer tonight to worry about another conference move.

Travel wasn't the only reason they left the ASUN. Of course, they aren't going to come out and say the ASUN blows, but I'm sure that factored into the decision to leave.

I wonder if the NKU Norse might pop-up on the Horizon?

I just answered my own question. Copied from: http://www.springfieldnewssun.com/news/s...ure/nPR8y/
If distance is important, schools from lower-ranked RPI conferences, in addition to Oakland, that are also within shouting distance of the Horizon members include: Robert Morris University, of the Northeastern Conference; Western Illinois, Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis and Indiana University-Purdue University Fort Wayne, of the Summit League; Northern Kentucky University, of the Atlantic Sun; Murray State, Morehead State and Southern Illinois, from the Ohio Valley Conference.
A little further afield is Belmont, a school in Nashville, Tenn., that is moving from the Atlantic Sun to the Ohio Valley this year.

This would be a big move for Belmont- all as a result of their basketball success. See how much of a difference a good coach can make to a program? If coaches were reversed over the last few years, im confident that this could be us.

NKU will pop-out of the ASun asap. Doubt Belmont will leave the OVC.
The question, where is ETSU in all of this conference reshuffling? I have yet to read a legitimate article by a legitimate sports writer published in a legitimate media based on any facts that so much as mentions ETSU as being on anyone's radar in the past five years or longer. The clock is running on ETSU athletics.

We have the new president. With the new AD that could change very quickly.

I think you're right to a certain extent. Bartow is an o.k. coach (given the lack of a basketball arena within which to do his job); but, let's face it....Byrd is exceptional. It seems that every year he gets more and more NCAA coaching awards, sets new records, and and gets more ESPN guest commentary spots.
With regards to geography, we're really no different than Belmont. Traveling the Horizon League would be about the same amount of miles as traveling most of the A-Sun. That being said, how do you think the Lipscomb people feel about being left out of the Horizon expansion talks? I'm guessing they maybe feel about the same as us in that regard?
