people make mistakes, not sure of his background but if the girl he attacked was asking the judge not to send him to prison might just have been one really bad day for the kid.

RE: Top Basketball Recruit Collapses....
That's the beauty of the justice system when it actually works. The victim may not want to prosecute, but its still a crime against the state and therefore he can still be prosecuted. I dont know him or the victim personally, but of course she says he's a good person. All criminals are "good" people. I see this every day. Call me cruel if you want, but that's just my opinion from dealing with this everyday in south memphis. These girls don't know what love is and think if he beats me then he's paying attention to me, which means he loves me. Sorry for the rant.

The look on his face when the first prison time was read was clearly disbelief that, as a star athlete, he could actually be locked up.

Just saw on the news that, although NIKE is semi-denying it, the next Lebron sneakers could retail for as much as $300. Wonder how many kids get whipped or worse on the street during a fight over the shoes that they are wearing. The National Urban League president has asked NIKE to reconsider the retail price citing that values should be in other places.

That's exactly how I saw it, too. It looked like he turned to his attorney and asked "3 years?"

Yeah and he definitely was ready to **** himself when he thought each sentence was adding on years.

Would be good if others would learn from his screw up, but most likely he will be painted as the victim here and the wrong message will get out.

Maybe the NUL president should ask LeBron to not ask for all those millions from Nike so they will not have to charge so much to cover his contract.

Fast forward 5 years and ESPN will do a feel good story saying he was wrongly accused.

There is a link to another story that says there is video of him kicking her in the head over and over as she cowered in a corner trying to protect herself. I dont really feel sorry for him.

With good behavior he can apply for release with restrictions after 180 days in jail.

maybe the NUL should look at why people are buying them. Nike's job is create shareholder value, Lebron's is to make as much money as he can while he's able to play ball.

Glad someone is sticking to what's right and not allowing status to dictate reaction.

Exactly.

I didn't add any comment to my last sentence because I thought that the request was so absurd. If values should be in other places, NIKE isn't the group that should be addressed. Perhaps CNBC, based on their conservative background, highlighted the National Urban League president's comment in an unfair light, but it came across as blaming the wrong group.

He said he was sorry. His idiot ex didn't want him to go to jail. Pretty bad. Must be held accountable for your actions, no matter what your basketball abilities are.
