To be fair, the Greensboro Coliseum has been renovated four times, last in 1993.

The current MSG renovations are the first substantive changes since it opened in 1968, and is the oldest NBA arena (in consecutive seasons) still in existence. (The Oakland Coliseum was built two years earlier but didn't host the NBA until 1971.)

That and the fact that it too was renovated in the mid-90's as the Warriors played in San Jose.

So can we agree the Coogs are competitively mediocre?

j/k!

COGS

Go COOGS!

THREE OF THE Projected TOP FOUR basketball programs in CUSA this year are headed to the Big East!

1.) Memphis
2.) Marshall
3.) HOUSTON
4.) UCF

Here is what they said about Houston.

Quote:3. Houston

In terms of sheer talent, the Cougars might be the only team in the conference that can measure up with Memphis. The difference is James Dickey's talent is largely raw and unexperienced.

Dickey was dealt a major blow when leading scorer Jonathon Simmons announced that he was turning pro instead of returning to UH for his senior season. The transfers of second-leading scorer Alandise Harris and rising senior Kirk VanSlyke were rubbing alcohol on an open wound (way worse than salt).

The cause for optimism lies in a youth movement highlighted by 2012 C-USA All-Freshman Team selections Joseph Young (11.3 ppg/3.6 rpg/2.4 apg) and TaShawn Thomas (10.7 ppg/8.2 rpg), as well as blue chip recruits Danuel House and Danrad "Chicken" Knowles. The former member of that duo was a five-star Jordan Brand Classic participant who could have played for just about any school in the country.

We've seen young and talented work at the highest level of college basketball for several years now. There's no reason why the combination can't thrive in Conference USA as well.

MSG had a $200 million renovation in 1991. That is where the skyboxes and the gigantic screen in the middle of the lower bowl came from. the current Garden renovation isn't really a renovation and more or less a new arena being built at the site of the old one, with only the roof staying.

Unlike the Big East...ACC Tourn has moved around a bit.

Since 2001, ACC Tourn has been played outside of NC a few times:

Washington, DC (2005)

Atlanta, GA (2001, 2009, 2012)

Tampa, FL (2007)

Its set again for the generic 50 plus year old Greensboro Coliseum for the next 3 years.

and none of them matter...the Big East tourney in MSG is THE tourney....the ACC knows it.

Its going to be fun and sad at the same time...when Syracuse has to travel to NC for their first ACC Tourn in GREENSBORO.

Some Cuse fans will talk about how great of a time they are having in Greensboro...but most will know, its NOT NY...it's NOT MSG....and their BIG $$$$ alumni in NYC will know it too.
