November 1, 2012 was a key date for the New Big East, because we will have accepted ESPN offer or we will be hoping for a better from some one else in 77 days. It is still silent isn't it. BYU, Fresno or ECU could be 14.

I will take a permaban bet that the BE will wake up on November 1st without a contract with ESPN.....

BYU will be the #14th to join in 2015 along with Navy.

Not sure I would even hold 11/1 as a final date. Exclusive negotiations, if they go well, can be extended.

I would say September 2, might be long enough to say we are waiting till the end of the year to award a winner for the new contract.

Isn't that what happens on 11/1, ESPN will still be talking but NBC, CBS and other will be able to start talking also. However, ESPN will have low balled us again. 04-cheers

They can be extended by mutual agreement. Theres not going to be a mutual agreement to extend the deadline. Theres absolutely zero to gain for the Big East by extending the deadline. The sooner multiple bidders are involved the sooner the real negotiations actually begin. Until Nov 1, its all just BS.

ESPN can always bid after 11/1 as well. They probably will....assuming they don't strong-arm the ACC to go to 18 schools.

Maybe it's one of the signs of the apocalypse ... the Big East gets a bigger TV deal than the ACC, PAC 12, etc., causing the end of the world.

Sounds reasonable to me.
