A conservative wouldn't recognize the truth if it fell on them.

I would not know anything about that. I despise today's conservative as much as today's Liberal. 03-puke

Let's get back on topic here.

The purposeful drop into a Southern dialect.

What a disgrace.

Yes...and NO response from the Left on this. It should show just what sheep and hypocrites these sycophants are. Biden quacks a racist remark and not a peep from them.05-stirthepot
On the same day the "new" Black Panthers threaten the Republican convention. These people are purposely trying to start a race war between now and the election.

F'ng hypocrites.03-puke

The war issue is the main reason I have NO respect for either party. One put us into this BS and the other has failed to get us out of it...and is seeking to further it. Damn both of them.03-puke

We're done in Iraq and drawing down in Afganistan. It took us eight years to get into that mess, it will take time to get out.

Great....But why NO criticism from the left of Obama's failed campaign promise?...which BTW was a MAJOR part of his election. And...Why very little criticism of his policies in Syria and Libya?

You do understand that a LARGE portion of those that voted for Obama dis so on the war issue? Why should these people believe a damn thing he says now?

He is getting the US out of Afganistan. We've been done in Iraq. He was off on the timeline a bit but he's still doing it.

If you're going to complain, at least have a legitmate one and not some petty BS.

Well Ill be damned. 03-banghead I don't consider men dying for NO reason petty BS. I don't buy the argument. If you can't get them home...then..at least get them safe. There is NO excuse. The blood is on his hands.03-puke

Still no comment about Obama's current boondoggle into Syria and Libya? You do understand he has inserted us into another damn mess?

I guess if we're defining it as long drawn-out occupation and nation building; then no, I wouldn't call those examples boondoggles either. But while limited and clandestine military operations might seem "better", it's still physically choosing sides in a civil conflict inside countries bearing no threat to us (which was the most argued point against Iraq). And those we choose to "side" with often aren't much better than the authoritarian we oppose on the other side.

And when it comes to the Middle East, they have long memories and hold grudges, and it doesn't take a major invasion to leave a bad taste in their mouths for decades.

RE: Biden.."He's going to put ya'll back in chains."
On a side note, I was watching Tom Brokaw's WWII story before the Olympics Closing Ceremonies last weekend. This was a time when the US tried to avoid the war as long as possible, and only got involved when Pearl Harbor was attacked. Mind you, this is when some of our closest, historical allies in Europe were getting shallacked one by one, with Churchill was pleading with us to help for months. This might've been the only case where we waited too long.

So it's interesting how we went from one polar opposite to another over the course of 70 years. France and Netherlands occupied by Nazis and London getting bombed nightly, we yawned. Kuwait gets invaded sixty years later, we take immediate action.

Both are part of a strategy of controlling the affairs of other nations. Nuff said.

Actually he did partly. He set the timetable for withdrawal before he ever left office, assuming the conditions on the ground made it sensible. Obama kept that time table, but it's debatable whether the conditions on the ground were right to do so.

Yeah...that was what I was referring to. W signed the initial agreement to start the withdrawal that had the end date of 12/31/11 I believe.

Yeah, I was just shocked that Tom would actually give him credit for it. Most on the left, like Max, still try to give Obama full credit for it even after you tell them that (and that Obama tried to convince them to let us stay longer).

Sure I'll give him credit... but I'll also ask why it took so long and why did you go there in the first place! 03-wink

Fair q's to ask...as long as you hold the Dems who went along with it to the same standard (and Obama for saying in 2008 that he would bring the troops there home "immediately").

Did he actually use the word "immediately?"

And while I hold the dems accountable for their votes, I still feel like W cooked the intelligence books the used to cast those votes. And no, I don't have the facts to back that up 03-wink but it's just a feeling based on his overall presidency.

I posted a clip here a while back for Max, but I can't find it right now. It was either "immediately" or "first thing" or something to that effect (implying action much sooner than "following Bush's already laid out withdrawal plan for years from now, then begging Iraq to let our troops to stay, and only leaving when Iraq tells us to GTFO.")
