RE: Stunned/CBS Sportsline Dennis Dodd calls the New Commish Hire a Home Run..
I like the following quote:
Quote:The league that was hoping for interest for competing networks now has created a market for their once-shaky product by sheer will. Aresco will open doors that previously were closed. The conference just assembled itself a power media trio with Aresco, TV rights consultant Chris Bevilacqua and senior associate commissioner Nick Carparelli. The Big East's future is all about its next contract, which will be negotiated in the next few months.

His posting style does seem really familiar, or at least he's a similar brand of dumb.

Is this hire more of a task specific hire? I mean, you found someone that can negotiate your next contract. Great! What after that?
Seeing as the next 4 months determine the future of the conference and the individual teams, I say, so what?
You still have to have someone who can handle the basketball powers of the league and still keep it together. With all the new members, there are now many different attitudes and cultural differences that will need to be dealt with. Conferences were and still are formed and re-formed based on similiarities of universities. The Big East will have to feel that out and it'll quite difficult.
Everyone will fall in line if the $$$$ are right.

Pitt and Syracuse are going to look extra foolish for paying an exit fee to one conference and an entrance fee to another conference, just to make LESS MONEY.
Not just the money. They went or image and prestige also. The academic notoriety of the ACC over our odd collection of schools will make up for any dollars they thought thy would increase. Yes they I'll be pissed but not so much.
