It would be tempting to take wins against both of my schools' rivals (Rutgers and TCU). But this year, I think I'd prefer wins in OOC games. These OOC games are crucial for the Big East.

I want UConn to beat NC State, because they're a respectable team from the hated ACC.

For SMU, I'll take a win against Texas A&M because that would send shockwaves throughout the state of Texas and the SEC.

Both of these games are at home (East Hartford & Dallas). Maybe the football gods will be kind.

Edit: I realize that TCU is also an OOC game ... but Texas A&M would be a much bigger win for SMU. We beat TCU last year. SMU hasn't beaten A&M in a long time.

Ohio State would be a huge win, and great for the perception of UCF and the Big East. It doesn't even matter that they've got a new coach and a bowl ban, it will still be headline grabber just because of the name.

Seriously, any 6 wins that would get Memphis into a bowl game this year will be considered miraculous and greatly appreciated. The more important thing is to prepare Tiger football for next year's Big East initiation.

This is a really tough one.

Penn State is one, but if Temple does beat Penn State this year the cry will be “oh, Temple beat PSU on a down year, it wouldn’t have been competitive if PSU was at full strength”, blah blah blah.

The other choice is Rutgers, because I feel if Temple can win that game right off the bat, first year in the conference, it will go a long way toward building that natural rivalry.

If I had to choose one I’d have to say Rutgers, because building the rivalry will strengthen the conference.
